Oh man I can only imagine the off-base comments from the FCS faithful up here if (and when) we have 2 Midweek home games in a season

We play at Southern Miss on the 20th of September, then play GaSo on the 25th, then South Alabama the next week.
A little concerned about our team not getting practice time and having to travel so much in just a few days. Guess we will get used to the heat and humidity by playing at SoMiss five days before though.

A Thursday game can makes things a little difficult but the two games in five days should be manageable. App has a bye week on 9/13, so they will have two full weeks off before the Southern Miss/GA Southern games and then a nine day layoff before they have to face South Alabama.

I totally agree with you on this. Georgia Southern will be a tough turnaround after the Southern Miss game. Georgia Southern will be a night game at least which means it will not be during the heat of the day.

Amen. I don't care how many eyeballs are on TV on a Thursday night. Saturday football in Boone is king.
I think you better go ahead and prepare to be disappointed, then. Midweek games are just part of the package of joining the Sun Belt.

I understand the downside because it will make it much less likely I'll be there in person as well. But, like the unpredictable kickoff times, it's just part of the tradeoff of moving up.
Not a good trade in my opinion but you are right we no longer control our schedule.
My guess is that no team has to play a midweek game. While the conference may set the schedule I would doubt that a team would be forced to play a midweek game if they didn't want to.

GSU is in the same boat of playing a road game the Saturday before our game, so that's basically a wash. And the extra couple days to prepare for USA should actually be beneficial.

That's probably true, but, as long as there isn't too much protest from the academic side over the disruption, I'd be pretty surprised if App didn't want to play a midweek TV game at home. I suspect they'll see it as a net positive for all the exposure it would bring - which frankly, it should be.

Just think of it like playoff scheduling year-round. It's the playoffs all the time. :D
Well there's a thought :D

Agree. Saturday in Boone. 3:30PM kickoff. Nice.
Still kind of hate us not having any mid-week games, but will be better for our attendance
and money to the program to not have any. Would be a good recruiting tool however.

With the benefit of knowing when and where the game is eight or nine months beforehand instead of just a week to make plans. This difference is monstrous for attendance IMHO. I'll be residing in Indianapolis by then, I'll be there still, It's all in the "want too" I guess.

Grow up? How about wake up?! LOL! I can't take a comparison between Thursday night Sun Belt in Boone to Thursday night BCS in Death Valley seriously.

Sorry for wanting more time to tailgate on campus on a beautiful Boone Saturday with a much bigger crowd. Maybe one day I'll grow up and want a Thursday night game where me and thousands of others get to Boone within an hour of each other because we aren't allowed to park on campus until 5PM to make a 7PM kickoff only to arrive home after midnight for work the next day. Can't wait to grow up. I mean, Lafayette, a town of 120,000 people PACK their stadium out with 20K for those Thursday night games. I'm sure we'll slaughter that number.

Okay - I may have taken that over the top. :D

My point is only that preferring that App State play home games on Saturdays isn't childish in the least.

I get it. We'll end up playing a home game on a weekday. Duh. But I can only hope it's an opponent like Georgia Southern or *fingers crossed* JMU.

What does wanting to go to a game have to do with that?

Grow up in the sense it's time to accept we're FBS and those guys play games on Thursday night. If a Thursday night game in Death Valley is a big deal the same should be said for one at The Rock. Regardless of who the opponent is. I know people who left Concord early enough to tailgate before that game. It is nearly a 3 hr drive and getting away from those extra 40,000+ made the arrival home a lot later than midnight. They looked forward to it and planned. It's all about attitude. Their fans see it as an opportunity to show what Clemson is all about, ours see it as a pain in the butt. Just as our fan base grew out of the mindset of arriving 30 minutes before games expecting to park in the stadium lot, it is time to adjust our way of looking at these mid-week games. National exposure on ESPN is huge. I hope fans will start thinking less of how it impacts them and more how it benefits the program.

I hear ya GAS. Please take my post as TIC. I'm glad you'll still be making some games--hopefully I'll get to meet you one of these days!

Think some of you are going overboard on this - all I have seen are some who say they really like the Saturday afternoon games and don't want to give them up for a Tue, Wed, or Thu night game - It's their preference and nothing to do with growing up and I don't see where anyone stated they would be boycotting mid-week games either --- lighten up some :o

The ones getting all bent out of shape over the grow up comment are those in need of lightening up. Amazed at how easily some get their feelings hurt.

I don't see anybody getting bent out of shape. I see some answers to a post about something that looks a lot like big boy envy to me. I would bet not many on here care who went to Clemson or what time they got home. Just speaking for myself I can't go to Boone on a weeknight so I would rather play on Saturday so I can go to the game. Just that simple. Yes I am thinking of myself as I am paying for the tickets. When you buy concert tickets are you doing it for the sake of the promoter or for your enjoyment?

Hey boys, personally one week night game a year is no big deal to me. Just take a day or half day of vacation and it's like Sat. I have no doubt the parking will be open 5 hrs. or so before kickoff. Remember our Fri. night Halloween game. That was probably the best atmosphere I've ever seen in KBS. This year we get the added benefit of seeing a game that I was not going to attend. National TV beats the heck out of either no TV on games on public TV. I am delighted that we finally are playing teams that have comparable fan bases and stadiums on national TV vs. playing the Woffords of the world in front of 4000 people and dead atmosphere. I couldn't be happier for our program and I look for really good things in the next 10 years. We finally have something to look forward to other than a second tier championship in Texas . Plus we already have been there and done that. It's time to strive for new goals and I'm excited.
