To me - those are outstanding numbers and yes, it was an FCS schedule but that is all we have to go on except that he was 22/39 for 221 yards against Georgia - right on his yearly average ---

His 151 efficiency would have placed him in the top 10 FCS nationally if eligible ---
That's really eye-opening. Cox's season was even more impressive. How the **** did we have a 4-win season again??? :?:
App only scored 24 TD's from the redzone last year. We played 48 quarters, you do the math. App was pretty good between the 20's, not so much in a short field. That has to improve.
Yes and a problem we have had since Armanti left - this has to get better and as Steve Brown has said for some time, "I would like to see us go into a 2 back set in these situations" ---
I hit up the treadmill the other night because, damn it's hot outside. Anyways, when I do that I usually watch the App football DVD's. As I ran, I had the 2007 Season Review DVD in, and noticed that we used two-back sets in the the redzone--particularly inside the 5 on many occasions. Those occasions typically had good outcomes.

I am of the opinion we need to be under center with a big back once we get inside the 5. But you need a big back and an OL than can knock people off the line. It all starts with the guys up front.

One point to note on Bryant is that what we saw last year wasn't necessarily a finished product. QBs tend to improve with experience.

If you separate out his numbers from the second half of the season, when he was the clear starter and took on more of the offensive load, they were even more impressive. Here are his stats from the last 5 FCS games (i.e., 2nd half of the season minus UGA):

76.2% completions
1,436 yards
7 TD
1 INT
8.5 ypa

Two things for the redzone, improve Oline, and give Upshaw the ball, kid is getting big.

one thing that limited Bryant's production last year, was his reluctance to run the ball when he was flushed out of the pocket. I get the feeling since we really didn't have a backup, the coaches told him to get down instead of risking injury. I remember several games last year, where he could have run for 5 or 6 yds after the pocket collapsed, but instead he went to the ground before anyone even touched him, or he headed straight for the sideline. With Lamb as his backup, I expect to see him more aggressive running the ball.

0-12 or 21-0, I'll be there.

Last year, everything was pretty new for the team and coaches

This year, a year under the belt for the "D" and coaches.

We will have ups and downs, but the future is bright for ASU!!!!

Is it football season yet???

We are in real good shape at RB. I look for redzone offense to be better even against tougher competition.

The best news out of last season not involving players is the fact that we did not lose ONE position coach.
**(I know S/C has changed but I do not count that as a position coach)**

That says something about how they feel about the program.....coaches have opportunities to leave all the time....and none of them took them.
Go APPS!

Very true. I think the coaches and players see the light. Can't wait!!!!
