We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

A member of this message board, my friend and football partner was an original member of Phatt City. He retired from the group some years ago feeling he didn't have the wind to play his trombone to his personal high standards. We all know the truth, however, is that Phatt City's active schedule was interfering with App football !!
This homecoming is his 50th. Phatt City has invited him to sit in on a couple of numbers. Our group is pumped!
Phatt City is a top flight group. Recently, my friend pulled out his music as he has begun rehearsing. It was a large three ring binder overflowing with hundreds of sheets of music including beach, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, Tower of Power, and on and on and on.
I have seen them several times. Yes, they can play multiple venues from high schooI dances to exclusive corporate events. One of the funnier stories is a gig they played in the northeastern US, Pennsylvania I think. The crowd was wary, "What is "Phatt City"? North Carolina? Country? Bluegrass? Rednecks?" To build upon the "moment", Phatt City opened with "Rocky Top" and, as eyes began to open wide, they rolled into a Chicago number. They were a hit.

My younger brother (50) just joined the Fantastic Shakers as their drummer. This group is like 30 old and he is only the 2nd drummer they have ever had. they are an awesome beach band and they play all over NC ,SC and Va.

The Beach Music / Rhythm & Blues community is alive and well. Maybe more popular now than it has ever been.moehler wrote:good to know there are still bands that play beach music, thought it had died out years ago

Our middle school band director was a member of Phatt City. He was an ASU grad as well. I believe he played trumpet in the band.

Yeah there were some great regional bands back in the day - several close friends were with the original In-Men and went on to play with The Rhondels for years - if fact, we had the Rhondels for our daughter's wedding - couple of those guys are with The Attractions Band now - still playing strong !!!

Isn't he back with the Embers now? Craig Woolard is in the top 3 of the beach music singers, if not the best.IGgreer wrote:Craig Woolard is a personal friend.
