do we honor some former coach's legacy by going with a vanilla running play off the guard? cause i cant remember one time that we did pass or mix it up...its always a running play up the poop shoot and my poop shoot is tired of running up the poop shoot...a novel idea is to take that brown thing and hurl it downfield to that guy who's taller than everyone else...that guy caught a td at the end of the game last week.

We went deep on 1st down in the first half, and Price could not catch it. Brownie mentioned the trouble with going deep is that you are left with 2 and 10. Maybe a short pass play would be a nice middle ground.

It's hard to go down field when the defensive ends almost beat Jamal to his drop back spot time and time again.

Up the gut sometimes gets us a few so 2-7 is different than 2-10.

For first down, I would like to see about 1/4 run an option outside, 1/4 run up the gut, 1/4 short pass for 5-6 yards and 1/4 going deep for 20+ on first down. Even huddle a few times, and then go jet the next time. Mix it up and play a few mind games with the other team's D.

Maybe I play to much Wii Football with options set on easy so my view of coaching might be a bit skewed.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys in the "we run it up the gut too often on first down" crowd are really paying attention. Below is a list of all our first-down plays from yesterday, including those that start a drive. Our run-pass mix on all first downs was 13 runs for an average of 3.7 yards per carry and 27 passes for 4.9 yards per attempt. On drive-starting first downs, we had five rush attempts for a 3.4 yards per carry average and five pass attempts for a 2.6 yards per attempt average.

Just tryin' to bring a smile about after a frustrating loss. I think anybody that cares enough to post regularly about Appalachian sports has a devotion and passion towards our school. That is why I choose to accept complaining and venting without confrontation. I think its fine to post one's opinion, after all, isn't that what this is about. I disagree with many posts at times on here but TRY to refrain from making it personal. I think most of those really frustrated right now are not upset at just the loss yesterday but a cumulation of several trends in the last few years and, truthfully, I have a lot of concerns myself ... The reactions come from caring and wanting things done right at our school.
