WR shakeup for Saturday
Re: WR shakeup for Saturday
Hats off to rumor that Shaedon Meadors and Jaylan Barbour will be dressing out on Saturday. Really hope it is true. We can use some good receivers. It's a good thing for them also. You need to play your best, the future is now. If you take care of today, tomorrow takes care of itself.

No prob. I haven't seen an injury report but he practiced with the offense this week (and today) and is dressing out on Saturday.mtnjax wrote:just going off what I saw. that is allAPPARJ wrote:Rumor not killed. Glad to see this. Bethard and Mc Elfresh are not your number 1and 2 receivers as I've said before. However I believe we all know skill players alone are not going to win games. We need big uglies badly.

Not saying your assumption is not true - I have no idea - However, a red-shirted player can dress out for every game ---APPARJ wrote:Potentially cool news for the WR unit. Rumor is that Shaedon Meadors and Jaylan Barbour will be dressing out on Saturday.
Jaylan was injured at or after Michigan and probably on the fast track for a medical redshirt. Shaedon was slower than some to adopt the offense in fall camp.
This, in my opinion, is great news. It shows Satt knows WR is a huge problem right now and he's doing what he can to improve and win.
It also shows just how weak we are that we have to bring in freshman to supplement the weakness of the Jr and Srs.
As always, I hope all of our guys play well. But I hope even more that our biggest recruit from this class, Shaedon Meadors, can quickly make an impact. By all accounts, he was an absolute steal.

If this is true, I hope they are starting. If we are going to play these kids they need to start. Using them as rotational players would be a complete waste of the redshirt. However, the current WR's are not cutting it.

Seeing that our next three games are "winnable", maybe this move is an attempt to get us a jump start. That is, if it's true.Goapps15 wrote:If this is true, I hope they are starting. I do not disagree. But if they are going to play I want them playing 70% or more of the snaps. I do not want them used as rotational players getting less than 30% of the snaps. If that makes sense?WataugaMan wrote:Seeing that our next three games are "winnable", maybe this move is an attempt to get us a jump start. Re: WR shakeup for Saturday
While I'm mixed on pulling the shirts after 5 games I disagree playing these two changes nothing.
I bet Taylor Lamb disagrees too. It is obvious we need more weapons at WR and beef on the oline. Putting the two highest rated recruits we've signed the last two years on the field will provide more weapons.

I'm still a little skeptical about this news but as Saint says, if it is true the only reason would be that they need to play now - after 5 games, I don't know ---Saint3333 wrote:While I'm mixed on pulling the shirts after 5 games I disagree playing these two changes nothing.

Lewis is a freshman and played in four game this year, so for the rumor to be true it would have to be three freshman playing on Saturday.IGgreer wrote:According to my sources, 2 freshmen WR will be playing on Saturday. I cannot disclose names.

They'll be dressing out. Playing time is never guaranteed.
Also, I have no sources. I don't know any "insiders" that give me info. For so long I've kept the methods of how I get information secret. But, since you are so convincingly whiney, I'll reveal it to you now. The way I gather this info is through telepathy.
That's right. I am a mind reader. My uncle's cousin on his wife's side is Charles Xavier (Professor X, leader of the X-Men). He has passed on his powers to me. This skill allows me to enter into the most private thoughts inside a person's head.
How do I use this power? To find out who is dressing out for the game for App State which I consider our nation's greatest priority.
So far, my greatest deed has been to not share what goes on in your head with the rest of MMB.
I trying to decide whether or not to reveal what size gloves Tyson Fernandez wears... but that might be too much, too soon.
Also, I read Charlie Cobb's mind last week. He lost your mailing address so you will not be receiving his Christmas card this year.

Re: WR shakeup for Saturday
I think this is a good move despite being at the halfway point of the season. If Satterfield wants 2015 to be the year to show what we have then we need experienced players on the field not just talented players. We will still red-shirt the majority of last years class to get some balance so playing these two shouldn't upset things too much. Plus we can all see that the WR group is having trouble getting open and defenses are playing everyone within 10 yards of the line. I don't think they should start, but they need to get major minutes. I do think we need to keep the OL recruits red-shirted since S&C is a major adjustment from high school at that position.

Re: WR shakeup for Saturday
If I'm Scott and I have redshirts that are better than who is playing, I'm gonna play them and worry about 4 yrs. from now later. If things don't turn around Scott will be gone in two more yrs. and he will never even see these kids in their last year. If better redshirts help us win it helps recruiting so we get some more good WR. If we keep looking like s$#^ our attendance is gonna fall and therefore $$ fall. It becomes a business decision at some pt. Bottom line if Scott doesn't start at least getting competitive this year and start winning next year he won't even be around for these redshirts senior year. I say based on what I saw last Sat. play the best you have regardless.

If he had been consistently healthy I might agree. Unfortunately we will never see Tacoi at 100%.IGgreer wrote:Is Tacoi Sumler the worst 4 star recruit ever?
