Georgia Southern - Roll Call
I will be there +1 and I plan to stay until the very end, no matter how the game goes. Most seem to think we are in for a brutal beating but I disagree. Paulson is a tough place to win and GSU is a very good team but I expect us to be ready to play.
GSU is 7-1 against FCS competition, we are 6-2. We have struggled mightily with the option this year but let's not forget how badly we were burned defensively by The Citadel and Wofford last season before holding GSU to 17 points and just over half their season average on the ground. Chatty just took them to 3 OTs and Elon played them to within a FG at their place. They will be much more fired up for this one than either of those teams but I expect a great effort from the black and gold as well.
A win changes our entire season, a loss will make Black Saturday do or die. With all the pressure on GSU to win at home, hopefully we come out playing loose and aggressive. If they drop this game, they likely lose the SoCon title and their seniors go out with a 1-3 record against App.
Let's go!

I'll be there with our younger son and his wife. Had it not been for our son's choosing to go to App in 2005, I would never have had the pleasure of joining the App family. Thanks to him for making such a great choice. Thanks to the rest of you for welcoming me so warmly over the past seven years.

Re: Georgia Southern - Roll Call
Wish I could be there I've got to stick close to home again plus fix some storm damage. A friend of mine lives in Savannah and I mailed tickets to him plus some App gear. They've been closet App fans for a while but are coming out now.
I'm hoping for a close game. It could get ugly as we are banged up everywhere, especially on D and we've got to put up points every time we touch the ball which means the O line has to give JJ or LH time to throw and open up holes for the backs against one of the best front 4 in the FCS. All that doesn't bode well BUT this is Ga. Southern and usually you can throw the records out the window. Time for some inspired football

I live in Ga so obviously I'll be there. My wife, dad (App alum), and his friend/son who went to ga southern are going too. But they're plenty nice and came to Boone last year.

Re: Georgia Southern - Roll Call
i'll be there! driving down friday. running my first 1/2 marathon sat. morning in savannah and then to statesboro (if i survive my race!) to yell and support our mountaineers to the final whistle! we are not the favorites, we have some injuries and we have struggled against this triple option mess BUT we can win and if we do....... it will be epic! look forward to an electric college football atmosphere. might take our ga. southern visitor up on his invite to stop by his tailgate. thanks. lets go app!
Re: Georgia Southern - Roll Call
No bones about it, this will be a war. Throw records and common opponents out the window, it will be a good one. Have a safe trip down, Appsters!

Re: Georgia Southern - Roll Call
I'm heading to Savannah with +1 after work tomorrow. Going out a little in Savannah that night.
I plan to tailgate with App fans I find early, but we were invited to Pike and Tribal's tailgate and eventually we're heading over there. I'm a little weary about fraternizing with the enemy, especially stink fans, but it will be interesting to see their tailgate culture. And as some of you know, I enjoy a little smack talk here and there.
Bringing bug spray and Febreze.

Re: Georgia Southern - Roll Call
Even though I'm right here in Savannah, I'm not making the trip up there. Number 1 because my wife had a partial knee replacement recently and she's still not up to all of the walking. Number 2 because this game could get ugly and if does the enemy crowd tends to get ugly as well. I wish I could go and I hope I'm wrong about the outcome, but i will be watching on ESPN3.

I hope your wife's knee heals up quickly. Stay safe. We'll try and pull the good guys through with the W.ebapps1 wrote:Even though I'm right here in Savannah, I'm not making the trip up there. Try to get over where Pike and Tribal will be tailgating. I'm pretty sure they are either heading to a group that I frequently tailgate with on the road. Great folks.
Some time prior to the game they'll make their way to my spot (F25/F26), if they reprise last year's itinerary. I'm gonna ice down an extra case of beer, so anyone that stops by can have a least one cold one, on the house, till they last. I'm pretty darn tired of hearing all the horror stories that always find their way onto the messageboards and figure the only way to combat that is free beer and hospitality
We all have our knuckleheads, but really all we want to do is end up at the end of the day with a "W" and a fun time leading up to it. The way I look at it, I can't control the former ... but will do my part for the latter.

Re: Georgia Southern - Roll Call
It will be my first trip to Statesboro.
I'm going with a big group. My sister lives on Tybee so she and her family are going. First APP game for them!!!
My 3 best friends are waiting for me in Savannah right now.. Having a blast on Rivers Street. I was supposed to be there with them but my daughter and I are heading out in the morning. I'm so excited!
How long does it take to get to the stadium from Savannah? Map quest says an hour? Where do we park in Statesboro? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Go Apps!

This link is from 2008, but on the 2nd page of the PDF is a map that is still pretty current.
http://www.georgiasoutherneagles.com/images/7261_1.pdf
Stadium lot parking is booster only. There is open parking at the RAC (not shown on the map, it is across Akins Blvd - the road on the left of the diagram), but that is very student centered and that lot is going to be packed early.
My suggestion would be to either park at the Performing Arts Center (upper lot), or to park at the University bookstore and catch the shuttle over. The bookstore would be my recommendation. There is a shuttle pickup there, and you can ride the shuttle directly to the dropoff at the stadium. All of those areas are free to park. The bookstore entrance is off of the map I linked, but very easy to find .... it is right off of Chandler Road (1500 block).
On that graphic, the lot to the top, right of the Lower PAC lot is not going to be available, which will further put parking at a premium. That lot is currently closed since they leveled the main cafeteria on campus .... and currently the temporary cafeteria is set up in that lot.
