Wyoming fan looking for lodging advice

Howdy Mountaineers! Wyoming fan and alumnus here. I'm looking for lodging advice for our October 3 game in Boone. I'm coming from Northern Virginia and like to know best places to try and book lodging in or around Boone. Thanks in advance!

I have stayed at the Baymont on NC 105. I have also stayed at the Super 8 on 105 as well. I think both are good for football games given the location of the stadium.

The Holiday Inn is a bit farther with more traffic.

You might want to consider B&B, cabins and other options. Check out the website.

For eats my family will find time at Pepper's for a meal for 90% of the time.

And as a public school teacher I do want to encourage you to spend lots of $ while in NC.

They should also check out the Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock……that's where I always stay and it is one of my all time favorite places.

I have to put in a word for The Peddler Steakhouse. Order the Peddler ribeye and enjoy. Have to be sure to enjoy the salad "bar" (caviar, if you like) and the french onion soup and bread. The La Quinta Inn on 421/105 is very nice, clean and tempurpedic mattresses and reasonably priced.

Don't do the Holliday Inn unless you have mad points or something.

Stayed their for the Campbell game. $200...avg accommodations...other side of town.

Sleep Inn is reasonable, very nice, and within walking distance of downtown. Comfort Suites is pretty solid too.

If you have Marriott points I'd highly suggest the courtyard, it's nice, but pricey otherwise.

Also, you might want to check on some cabin rentals in Blowing Rock area. Beautiful town about 7 miles from Boone and cabin rentals are often much cheaper than hotel stays.

The best advice is to book as early as they will let you. Otherwise, you'll be staying in North Wilkesboro or Lenoir.

Boone Cabin Rentals (828) 262-0978 has decent rates and the cabins are minutes from the stadium.
Depending on what you're looking for, Mellow Mushroom (Pizza) Peddler (Steak), Peppers (Sandwiches) or Dan'l Boone Inn (Family Style).

We should probably have the mods create a sticky at the top of the football folder or a "visitors" tab across the top ribbon of the board that has all the suggestions for lodging, eateries and activities. Could be a way for the board to generate some additional revenue to offset the costs by placing those willing to pay to be at the top of the list.

We use http://www.homeaway.com to find places if staying for a couple of days. Found enjoyable places in Blowing Rock, Seven Devils, Todd, and Deep Gap - all easy drives back to Boone.

Also used it to find a nice cabin on The Black Snake River in Missoula a couple years ago for the Montana game, and this past season we found a place in the French Quarter down in New Orleans for the Louisiana Lafayette game (the 2 hour drive was worth it).

What I've found is it is economical if you are staying 2 or 3 days or have another family tagging along.

Renting a cabin or staying in a hotel, the visit to Boone will be most enjoyable. Crash some of our tailgating, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for all the advice! I have my accommodations and we're all set. I'm coming in Friday afternoon and staying until Sunday. Looking forward to seeing the Pokes in the Appalachians.
