Let me say I understand that the comparisons here are vastly different and there are a MILLION different reasons why this could have never happened to Armanti but it was just interesting to think about.
I was just reading an article about Vernon Adams being excited about maybe getting a chance to be the starting quarterback at Oregon next year. He obviously did some great things at EWU and I am sure some wish him well, but I know there are plenty of outraged coaches and fans angry at his departure, but I can't help but think that it must be so strange for Oregon to be playing against EWU next year as the season opener. It just made me think about how strange it would be if Armanti had played one more year at an FBS school and Appalachian had to play them with him as the starter. What if our 2010 squad had to go up against Texas the year after they lost to Alabama and Armanti was on the other sideline wearing orange and white. Or if he had departed after the 2008 season and we our 2009 squad played Oklahoma with him dressed in red and white on the opposing bench. It would be a crazy thing to witness as a fan and would also be interesting to see a quarterback like Adams/Edwards who performed so well in the FCS playing in the next level. Like I said just something I found interesting to think about.
Vernon Adams/ Armanti Edwards
Re: Vernon Adams/ Armanti Edwards
Probably right about the hobby thing. I do enjoy college football tho! I could make that my new hobby! Maybe I should spend some more time reading and watching it on TV and online. In fact I just saw an article today about a FCS Quarterback who is transferring to a top 25 FBS school with hopes of being a starter. Really interesting read, I wonder what it would be like to see one of App's players former players do that. Maybe I could add on to my new hobby and share my thoughts on a message board. Probably not a good idea though chances are I would just get told to find a new interest by someone who clearly thinks that following college football is a silly hobby.AppinATL wrote:WTH? Why even think this up? You need a hobby.

I'm with you Brown. Would have been hard to stomach, but I understand the player's motives.
I always remove 'football' from the example and put in 'marketing job'. I can't imagine seeing AE play against our Mountaineers, but if it helps a kid have a better chance of getting their dream job after graduation, then who are we to stand in their way.

I totally agree having to lose a great player must be tough for a school but that player is only attempting to play where they have the best chance to further their career in football. Its like what one player said about why he chose Alabama, he said it wasn't about the rings it was because when Nick Saban sat him down he said, "here at alabama we will get you ready to play on the next level". I realize that for FCS players the chances or NFL playing careers are slim but fans have to realize each one of these guys will still fight for even the smallest chance to be on the field on Sundays.Boone Goon wrote:I'm with you Brown.
