That being said, now that we are on the radar do we need to really make statements whenever possible in order to really try to climb in the polls? Could ranking make a real difference in a few weeks if there has to be a decision made between similar teams for other bowl consideration?
I think we got Top 25 votes because we were on the television without a lot of competition. The 190,000 viewers that watched the game are certainly more than watch it online via ESPN3. That number is up from 156,000 viewers last year for App/GS. I don't think a touchdown in fourth quarter matters, but touchdowns in the first half do. I bet a lot of people turned the channel away from Clem/Mia last weekend at halftime, if not before. We could beat Troy by 50, and I guarantee we lose those votes to someone who was on the television Thu Night.
You are probably right- "App you are super good team, #33 in the land after whipping GSU. You beat Troy 50-0 but in order to maintain your ranking you should have won 70-0!"

i ask about "style points" because I find it funny that those are even needed. Didn't they eliminate the blowout factor years ago? Guess not.

So are you saying you think we get no votes in next week's poll regardless of the outcome vs. Troy?

That would be some sheet! Guess the perception would be that we only beat what would now be a 2-6 team. Curious to know how many voters would even watch a minute of the game Saturday.

I really hope the team comes to play today and isn't looking past Troy. They have a pretty good throwing QB that is back and played very well against NMST last week. Don't get too cocktail and take em one at a time. As long as we can keep pressure on the QB we should be okay.

If we come to play
Boone's Men 38
Helen's boys 13

If we look past them
App 31
Trojans 17

Our secondary is going to have a busy day, Gibbs and Middleton will step up though. Don't let their receivers get behind us and Law , Boggs , Stringer close off the middle.
