We could still be in FCS and go undefeated and I doubt more than 4k app fans would be in Frisco, Tx.

Yup. I still think I'd be able to make it though. Leave the night before, get down there to see what Mobile has to offer for a bit. Tailgate, other festivities, etc then go to the game (which will be against a good team). Then wake up the next morning pretty early and drive back, would be able to make it back to NC with plenty of time for Christmas Eve festivities.

I do think ASU is likely to go to one of the Alabama bowls. I agree that NO is likely to select Ark State and that the Cure Bowl will be out if only 3 Sun Belt teams reach 6 wins. However, I think it's 50/ 50 whether Mobile selects us vs. Ga Southern. Some pundits were already selecting GS to Mobile last week. Their league records currently matches ours and GS gained some notoriety for its OT game with UGA yesterday.

I'm torn because Mobile is my second choice when it comes to destination city, but the date is a real buzz kill. We'll be there regardless.

Just preordered 3 tickets for all 4 bowl possibilities. Wouldn't miss our first bowl game. Can't wait!

Pre-ordered for all 4 bowls. Wishful thinking, (for Orlando) but ya never know. I think I'll cash in some comp nights and stay at Harrah's in Biloxi for the Mobile game.

Also pre-ordered all 4 bowls. Will figure out how to make it to whatever location and date.

If we win this week and Southern is selected over us for Mobile it will be a complete smack in the face and we will never hear the end of it from them. To be passed over by the top two bowls would be unacceptable for me.

I think it likely we get passed over by the Go Daddy Bowl. The date makes it difficult for many of our folks and Southern would likely bring more fans than we do under the circumstances. I don't see it as a snub but rather an economic decision.

Go Daddy Bowl in my opinion is not the second highest bowl. In fact it has one of the lower payouts. Its the second oldest is all. If everyone keeps reserving tickets for it you are increasing our chances of going to a bowl that most App fans don't wan't and or can't make. I want to be at our bowl as much as the next guy but the 23rd doesn't work for a lot of us.

As I read through the various posts on this thread, I had to smile. We're in our first year of bowl eligibility, and we're discussing which of four bowls we'll be going to. That's sweet right there! Let's go bowling ... somewhere!

If we are a 10 win team, second in the conference and beat GaSo head to head it will be a huge snub to be passed over. If we are passed over under those circumstances it will render the experience meaningless and in no way a reward for a great season. Think about it we could be 6-6 and still get the same bowl bid if there are only three SB qualifiers. Are you okay with that? No way am okay with that situation. That would mean that money trumps the product on the field so that makes this just another game. Hell we could create our own bowl and invite a 5 win to Boone. Let me tell you and this tirade is not directed at you, if this was an NC game and actually meant something everyone on this board would be there regardless of the date. We should be highly offended if we do not get Mobile if we finish with 10 wins.

None of the bowls that a G5 school goes to is considered prestigious, except the access bowl of course. A G5 bowl is a reward to the players for a good year and gives the school some national TV time. There is a good chance that a lot of the bowls will choose a school that they feel will bring the most fans to the game. To the bowl committee it is about the money otherwise why would they do it. I am thrilled App is going to a bowl and I will make every reasonable effort to be there to support our players. But lets be realistic what a G5 bowl is.

While your logic is sound, it is just simply not the way the bowl system works. How many wins a team has really only plays a major role in the New Year's Six, and even then it's arguable on the import of 10 wins versus 8 or 9 wins. I won't be offended by GaSo going to Mobile and App going to Montgomery because it is simply not at all an indication of which team is the better or had a better season. Money and geography make up 90%+ of the decision criteria at this level.

I say let GaSo go to the GoDaddy, have a bad turn out and look like a high school game on TV. It's the first year for both programs and stacking the deck in our favor for future bowl considerations by having a Saturday game not conflicting with our society's biggest family holiday is alright by me.

The 2 most important things for whatever bowl App goes to will be 1) WIN! and distant 2) fans showing up and TV ratings.

91 at first I had the same thought as you about GS and the Go Daddy bowl, but after thinking about it I agree with Hap and MtnDevil. The Go Daddy Bowl is going to look to fill its stands (especially given both teams are hopefully 7-1 in conference), I know we beat them soundly.

The trip to Mobile for GS's fanbase is 5-7 hours, while the trip for our fanbase is 8-11 hours, that's a big difference.

Go Daddy could look at the pre-bowl ticket sales and pick the higher number as neither team as a track record of tickets sold for bowl games.

App will bring more people to the Camellia than Go Dadddy, due to distance and more importantly date. That showing will be much better next year if we're on the bubble for a bowl location.

I'd prefer Go Daddy if both were on the 19th, but the more I think about it the Camellia may be better for our fans and players (as they play in that stadium this week).

But we aren't being passed over. There's no "2nd place Sun Belt goes to XYZ bowl" tie in for the conference. There is no slight, no being shuffled about. None. The bowls that have tie ins to the Belt choose who they feel will make the greatest economic impact to their game.
Give 'em hell!
