APP vs. Ohio
Re: APP vs. Ohio
Don't really know why Ohio is the under dog, they have a Strength Of Schedule rating of 107.
59 overall. While ASU comes in at 137, and 54 overall but the money is flowing for an ASU win/Ohio cover. Ohio is a dangerous team especially if they have all their starters back. Time will tell. 10 days.....

Getting closer to -7, as of 12-15 just checked and it is currently APP-7.5.yosef13 wrote:Vegas always comes out of the gates on the high side. The game is 12 days out. The line will likely drop down to around 5 and finish around 7.
Considering that a 1st bowl win is an historic event for APP football, I'm sure we'll all take a 1 point W.

Re: APP vs. Ohio
teams that have given us the biggest problems are teams that run up tempo, sometimes no huddle offenses. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be what Ohio likes to do. Someone posted they remind them of Furman, I think that's a pretty good comparison, they don't do anything flashy, on either side of the ball, but they are very efficient, and will not beat themselves. I think if we can control our emotions, especially in the first 5 minutes of the game, and limit turnovers, I think we have too much talent for Ohio, I think we will cover the spread and get our first bowl win.

I miss a rivalry of the magnitude of FU on the schedule every year. The Gumroots from East GA have taken on enemy #1. Guess we'll develop another 1 or 2 in the SunBelt.

Re: APP vs. Ohio
The Furman rivalry was great while we were in the SoCon, but in my book Georgia Southern passed them by as our #1 rival years ago. Since 2005 (the two excellent games against Furman), the Furman rivalry has declined a bit. It was still there, but not what it once was.
I think we will have plenty of heated rivals in the Sun Belt. Once Troy gets back on track, that will be a good one...and as Georgia State continues to improve, that one could be interesting also. Coastal will have to continue to develop, but we will be high on their list....and they've already surpassed Furman in recent years in terms on "on field" performance.
it takes time to build true rivals. They will develop.

Re: APP vs. Ohio
About the only thing App has in common with Furman is that we used to be in the same conference. Over time we will build much stronger rivalries with schools that are more like App in almost every way.
