Man, he seems done. I get that ECU's standards are high and they have been let down for going on 8 years now, but any time they play a close game, or the QB struggles just a bit, their fanbase goes nuts. Holton Ahlers was somehow not good enough for ECU but is good enough for the Seahawks type of thing. Houston seems over it because he likely knows better than the fans since he is at practice every day.

I'd imagine much of this centers around QB play. ECU had Patrick Pinckney until 2009, then Dominique Davis comes in along with the Air Raid and elevates their program. Shane Carden comes in and continues that legacy with Lincoln Riley. Then Gardner Minshew comes in, does good things, leaves, Ruffin is fired, Scottie Montgomery is hired, and the rest is sort of recent history.

Their fans are so restless for the type of season they haven't had, maybe ever (when is the last time they won 10 games?), and he has a four star QB he's trying to develop, yet the fans lose their minds. Garcia has struggled and looks lost out there right now, but with his physical tools and obvious NFL speed and arm, not to mention size, it wouldn't be wise to give up on him after two games.

I don't know that Garcia will ever figure it out, but if he does, I hope it's not this week. He has a cannon of an arm and can run so if his mind should ever catch up with his physical talents, he'd be one of the most dominant QB's in college football. But there is a reason he ended up at ECU instead of a Florida or something.
Struggles just a bit? Garcia has been hot, stinky, garbage and your posts on the other boards on the internet where you pretend to root for ECU and App show you understand he's been awful. If whoever Apps starting QB right now was 21-41 for for 142 yards 1 td, 2 ints through 2 games you'd be rightfully pissed as hell. If he wants to not give up on him I can kinda understand it, Garcia is a huge talent and massive "potential", but potential can get you fired. Either way there's no fan base on earth that gives a damn that wouldn't be steaming mad about the QB play ECU has run out there so far.
I don't "root" for ECU. I haven't seen an ECU game, in full, since 2009, when I was a student. And ironically, that was the App State game. Why this matters so much to people, I don't get.

On topic, I was just saying that Mike seems over it. There is a reason Garcia is still starting and I don't think it's just his "potential". Flinn clearly gives you the best chance to win but Houston will not relent on that, why? Boosters? NIL? There is something there.

Strange question to ask, but is this the worst defense ECU has faced to date?
A fair question. I think that any answer given is largely based on subjective speculation. I mean teams just matchup differently sometimes and teams improve, or you at least hope they do, weekly. ECU’s offense could very well start to click this week and produce at a higher level than the 1st two games. Does that mean that we are worse than Michigan or Marshall? It’s debatable but hardly definitive or predictive of what will happen as the season moves on.
Marshall also runs like a 2-5-4 defense which is unique. They have two defensive linemen and essentially two linebacker on the edges. Guidry is sort of a revolutionary and I guess whomever took over for him at Marshall continued with the same philosophy.

We have struggled with mobile QBs and they have a large one. Containment is the word of the day, make him beat you with his arm.
Hopefully this issue left when Dale Jones retired.

I can accept someone like Maye who is not know for running MAYBE running for 7 yards once per drive in the event maybe he had to break the pocket.

The one's that have always gotten to me historically are the one's any scouting report or even highlights could tell you they have a mobile QB, and we still give up over 120 to that QB
You played football at App, right? What's your assessment on how having big ends like Collins and Fletcher can help with a guy like Garcia who is playing at the same height and weight as Cam Newton? Also, what was the issue in stopping the run at UNC? Linebackers seemed late to fill gaps and when they got there, Hampton is a big dude who can drag just about anyone it seemed like.

I can't tell if you're being a wise guy or not haha.

I think not pressing too deep on the pass rush will be key. From what I've seen with Garcia he's not afraid to step up in the pocket and run, whereas some mobile QBs will go backwards to escape already putting themselves at a disadvantage. Establish the physicality at the line without going too deep, and make him pass. I don't think he's as tough to tackle as Cam even being similar in size. Openly admitting I've only seen limited film on him.

As for the linebackers. Not a position I really know much about to really criticize too much outside of what I see. Long TD run looked like a blitz called that was just unfortunately called or executed to the wrong gap. TD on overtime looked like a blitz as well up the middle, RB bounced it outside. The one towards the end of regulation, box was crowded, and looked like the stronger team won that battle.

Not too familiar with techniques for LBs other than knowing it's better to go forward albeit directly or at an angle instead of lateral, and definitely not backwards and wait.

Just saw this posted on Neersbarstool.... https://www.instagram.com/p/CxIsgnNMogF ... BiNWFlZA== Second pic shows a post by AppStateMania stating ECU had to return some of their ticket allotment and App State was able to sell the tickets to our fans. Being that it's Neersbarstool, I can never tell if it's a legit post or a parody. Does anyone have info on this?

Just saw that APP-ECU is the most expensive ticket in CFB this weekend as of this morning. Could imagine Gameday being at CU could boost them by the end of the week, but that’s insane with UF/UT, UGA/SC, WVU/Pitt.

Definitely shows the demand we have. I think the UNC ticket was the most expensive last year as well. Troy probably wasn't cheap either. Based on ticket cost, temporary parking spots in Duncan and $5 water - this could be the largest regular season revenue event in App Football history.

What was face value for single game tickets to this one?

Reality is App State Football is 4-9 in its last 13 games versus FBS opponents. Off season, recruiting and growth victories don't count any more. It's time to win actual ball games versus peer institutions, the measuring stick that determines hiring, extensions and firings.

ECU Depth Chart.
That looks like an updated version of last week’s chart. I don’t think that it is fully updated.

After we win, I’m going to go to their board and let them know how impressed I was with their performance and that they should be proud of their team. Because that’s the genuinely nice thing to do.
