App has about 10 times the number of graduates than Woof each year, so those Terriers must give 20 or 30 grand each.

Almost all our recruits are going to get stronger interest from BCS/mid major programs as the year go on, and many will probably receive schlorship offers. This, in my opinion is a good thing, it means we are getting serious attention and consideration already from kids who, just a couple of years ago, would have not even considered us. Again, my point is, App is years ahead of UNCC in terms of recruiting, facilities, tradition, fan support, both at home games and away games, financial support (yosef club raised over 3 million last year), at this time, and in the near future, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense from UNCC's perspective, and App's perspective to be playing. You guys get your house in order, establish yourselves, catch App, which I have a feeling you will eventually, and then lets talk about a ballgame.

Once again it is July. The strong interest from BCS programs could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on whether you keep the kid or not. Our recruiting so far this year isn't highly ranked but last year’s class had guys with offers from BCS programs.

As far as what App is ahead of us at, I give you tradition and fan support (football only). 49er club donations were higher than $3 million per year before football. Other than on the field performance and stadium size there is nothing else we have to "catch up" with.
I haven't read any further and someone probably has a reply for this....App grads are a lot of criminal justice and teachers.....both don't pay worth a crap, so it's hard to give money when you don't make much to begin with....Wofford raises a hell of a lot more than us with, because they end up being CEOs and lawyers...that's the difference...
Exactly. I've been saying that about Wake, Duke, Davidson, et al. Sure we have an outstanding business school (but so do many others) , but we have no true professional school. Plus, we don't have many wealthy donors who never attended our school.

Just figured I'd drop that by, since I've been called a "rube" among other things for saying that all the "Judy is afraid to play App State" stuff was completely fabricated.

Not excited about playing UNCC but, 2018 in Boone sounds about right.

I don't think anyone said afraid. I think the implication was that she was too arrogant. Nothing in your link to dispel that notion. I don't think her arrogance, or that of a good portion of the UNCC fanbase is fabricated. I just don't know where it came from, considering that a down of football has yet to be played in Harrisburg.

You know, I have no problem with a visit to Boone in 2018. Its been about 10 years since I was in Kidd Brewer - might have to make a nice weekend of it. That being said, we all know this would be a H&H series at minimum, so I'm looking forward to tailgating with some HappyAppys before sending you back up the mountain with a "L"! :D

Seriously though, regardless of why some 49ers don't want to play ASU earlier, or why some Mountaineers don't want to play Charlotte because we are a start-up, this is a series that needs to happen. Too many fans of both programs exist locally not to take advantage of it. The excitement around Charlotte combined with Apps FCS success and history would generate the kind of buzz in the state that the ACC schools don't want us to have. But mainly, this would be a win for the fans.

Too arrogant... interesting, considering the article states that we attempted to schedule a series with you guys first all the way back in 2010. It made no sense for you guys to play us. Then when we got into CUSA and the tables turned, and it didn't make sense for us to play you guys we are arrogant? This logic is very interesting.

It made no sense for us to agree to a series with a startup, and I know for a fact that the reach out was to play in Charlotte first. That is arrogant. If we had stayed FCS then it would have made no sense for you to play us and I wouldn't have expected it. Given that both schools are headed for FBS, and we will be there a year sooner, it makes sense to play if the terms are reasonable. I don't know when this turning of the tables you speak of ever happened. But that is representative of the arrogance; believing you have already passed us by when you haven't done anything.

Please provide evidence, such as the article linked above, and I will believe this. Every series with an FCS power we have scheduled has started with a road game. The tables turned because regardless of who plays better football, which the sun belt was MUCH better last year, C-USA is a recruiting advantage over the Sun Belt. Feel free to disagree, but I don't think that's arrogant, I think that is perception, and to recruits, perception is reality. If we had beaten you as a startup, it would do serious damage to your recruiting. If we lost to you guys while us C-USA and you FCS, which was the circumstance until later on in this academic year, it would have done serious damage to our recruiting.

Anyway, best of luck to you guys. I want no part of another App/Charlotte message board war.

You may believe what you wish. I'm sure you know there is no article that can give you that evidence.

And you're right, I do disagree.

App reached out first for a game when UNCC announced they were starting up. UNCC wanted a home and home with the first game at UNCC. App said no thanks. When UNCC and App were both announced to be headed to the FBS App reached out again to sign a long term deal, starting ASAP, UNCC said no thanks. Now App is reaching out for a long term deal starting in the 5th year of UNCC's program (full strength year) and UNCC is thinking about it.

I understand why Judy doesn't want a game vs. App. Hopefully she'll be an honest about it as Wake's coach is.

Losing one game is not going to seriously damage anyone's recruiting. That's just silly. I doubt it would even be a consideration because it means nothing.

On a separate note, I wanted to compliment ImFromClayton on being a pretty level headed poster compared to the other guys on Niner Nation. I replied to one of the threads on there, and it's safe to say I won't ever do that again. Within 5 seconds of my reply, there were potshots at Boone and our program.

Back in 2010, we had a full non-conference schedle in 2014. We don't now due to the McNeese series being dropped but Charlotte does.

You say the above statement but yet YOU are the one who brought back a dead thread.

The article clearly states TWO games. It says nothing about who plays whom first and where. Just because you "reached out" doesn't mean you didn't ask for the first game. I was told by the Athletic Department that the proposal was for the first game in Charlotte. At that time no one knew what UNCC would have so why would the first game be there. You say offer proof. My ears are the proof. Your proof, according to you, is the article. No proof there as to where the first game was to be played, just that a proposal was made.

You guys are the best. I always get a laugh from you so thanks.

Ninernation.net can get quite loony. Thanks for the compliment. I will be the first to admit that our fans can be complete jerks, including myself on occasion.

Have you got anything other than a newspaper article? That's no more reliable than people here posting what we know to be facts.

For someone who claims to not want to stir the pot, you sure spend a lot of time here doing just that.
