We used to cart 15k fans to Wake Forest, many of whom were students, and that's back when we struggled to average 15k at home games. The student ID gates could work at BOA just as well as they work at KBS when we're the home team. It doesn't really matter, as we're discussing hypotheticals.ASU-FTW wrote:I believe in good years we had as many as 10k. How many students travelled to the last game at ECU? Just thinking of your question a bit differently.

Re: Here we go!
Good question! I would certainly want to make sure that we have 40K+ (both teams) before playing at BOA stadium. Nothing would be worst than having 20k in a 73K stadium. Maybe after the series starts we can judge better. I just know when we had the scrimmage at UNCC, people were debating if we had 3K or not. I know a scrimmage is different but is it 30k different.EastHallApp wrote:How much of the attendance at an average home game is made up of students? Re: Here we go!
I have been wanting to take in a race there one weekend, but I really hate auto racing and it would be a waste of money in my view. and then take in a WSSU game and see the difference. Again it would be a waste of money I could spend somewhere else, as I am not really connected to WSSU. Though I was glad to see them succeed in 2012 in D-II football.bcoach wrote:I really had no idea what you were talking about. I had to Google it. I guess I have now seen everything. I do have to say though that even w/o the track no I am not a WSSU fanMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote:Not a fan of WSSU football I assume.bcoach wrote:I want to play schools that I can drive to, and UNCC is one of them. Who the heck wants to be so far away from the fields or rink that you can't see the game?
A lot of Forsyth county high schools use the WSSU pool for swim meets, but I have not been able to attend those meets for a few years.
I have always wondered how they can assure the playing field is free of the small piece of a car that went flying in a wreck. A tackle in the wrong spot and one has a big gash on their lag or arm from a small nut or bolt from a car.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Here we go!
Maybe I am looking at this the wrong way, but hey, I am new at this college football thing. When I look at the location of the teams in the SunBelt I would think you would be thrilled to play a game in Charlotte unless there is something in Monroe, LA that I don't know about.
Even with expansion at Jerry Richardson Stadium there will not be 15-20k seats available to App fans, but you don't get that anywhere you go to play do you? I expect the Yosef Club to hand out tickets based on priority number, so use these four years to step it up. Who knows, the Charlotte game may be the biggest fund raiser you have.

Re: Here we go!
It would be interesting to know if the contract includes minimum visiting tickets provided. For FCS game we only provide ~1,500 tickets.
Yosef points will likely come into play in determining who gets the App allotment to the away game for us.

Not to worry App faithful. Remember - the Charlotte media market is massive; probably looking at national TV coverage.Nugget49 wrote:Maybe I am looking at this the wrong way, but hey, I am new at this college football thing. Not to worry Nugget49. Lots of people are "new to this college football thing", an example of such being the CUSA leadership.

Re: Here we go!
There won't be many tickets alloted. Jerry Richardson Thimble is tiny and ticket opportunities will be proportionally small. One thing we can do is buy up all their student tickets turned gen admission tickets. Apparently, when there isn't sufficient student interest (they send out mass emails and blow up social media just begging their students to pick up free game tickets) the remaining student tickets are sold as general admission tickets to interested alumni. That's how a few of my UNCC grad friends got to see the games this year. If we can get a jump on those types we could easily triple our presence in Harrisburg, albeit not nearly enough to satisfy the demand. We could fill two JR Stadiums with just App fans if they'd let us.

The UNCC game is merely an easy travel game for our fans. There is nothing remotely prestigious about the UNCC football program, athletic department, or University itself to make this a "big fundraiser" draw.
Of course putting a damper on your delusions is another selling point for me and a few of our fans. Good grief, get over yosef.

I'm sure there is a lot you don't know about. For starters, UL-M has been playing football since 1931. Their stadium holds over 30,000, which means Your cracker box could be the visitor's side. They have played in a bowl game, and beat a #8 ranked Arkansas team from the SEC in 2012. Oh yeah, of the 5 former SBC teams that have moved to CUSA,UL-M had a winning record against 4 of them.
As far as being "thrilled" to be coming to your campus- Just like your students, we'll be ready to go home for the rest of the weekend when the game is over.
