Buffalo-You want to know who was the last to post "crap" in the recruiting thread. You did. Just after we offered DE Turner you posted that it didn't matter who we offered since the D coach wouldn't be here. That post was deleted with a warning from 89'.

You say my post was off topic. This thread was started by 66 to bring attention to all the people who just a few short weeks ago were calling for Satt's head. It was then mentioned about Woody's head then moved on to discussions about criticizing coaches and players. The common theme is negative posts. It's a message board. Negative posts and those that disagree will always be a part of it. And there will never be a time when every single person is happy. Someone will always find something to complain about. However once the thread went to calling out current players it's only a small step to making comments about recruits and possible carryover into the threads of the current negative posts on the staff and players, as you yourself did in your post about Coach Woody. I took the opportunity to remind everyone to, as App91 just stated, keep posts like that out of the recruiting threads. Things are getting ready to heat up with more and more posts in those threads. I never called for this thread to be shut down and I said in my post here that people can carry on all they want, just not in the recruiting threads. In that context the post is not off topic but if it bothers you so much then I will have the post moved into the recruiting thread itself. It's in context there as well.

The recruiting threads are for recruiting information and relevant comments about recruits. Commentary about the team or the coaching staff should be put in an appropriate thread. Anything of the like posted in this thread will be deleted.

You asked a question and I answered it. The only reason I brought it up was because it was you that posted the comment. If you did it once then you can do it again.

I explained the reasons for the post. So far you're the only one that has posted that you have a problem with it. Not sure why you believe that one post can stop a thread. Never really has before. And if it did this time then it would appear that most people were done. But again I'll have it removed if that will make you happy.

It's a simple request. No negative posts of any kind in the recruiting threads. And we're not talking about grown men when I say that. I'm talking about high school kids and JUCO recruits who are reading about themselves. This has nothing to do with the members of the board. It has to do with commits, their family and friends, and potential commits reading negative comments about themselves. That's all.

And finally, if you think you're under my skin or that I mine is thin then you don't have a clue who your talking to. I've conducted felony stops, laid across dead victims to extricate live ones, crawled into burning structures searching for victims and survivors, faced a couple thousand degrees of heat with a water hose in my hand, and spent more than 20 years trying to save lives and comfort others when those lives couldn't be saved. It takes one hell of a lot more than some anonymous person on a fan board to get under my skin.

BTW Go back and read the post. I never said the "threads". I said the pages. I said the threads would continue as before when 78' was posting the info. Reading is Fundamental.

I have put several people on ignore. I just got tired of seeing the same stuff. When they post I see that they have posted and I have the option to open. If someone quotes them I see the post like it or not. It is a good option if someone really gets under your skin which it seems this particular poster seems to. All boards have these people. If the majority of posts are level headed (even if negative at times) the tripe gets drowned out.

I guess people will post whatever they want to on a board but as mentioned before, think twice about calling out individual players; football is like having a full time job while also attending school (unless you go to UNC-CH) and let the coaches criticize or correct them for mistakes on the field, not a message board. The coaches are paid adults so holding them accountable is a little different matter. Just consider if what you are posting might actually hurt the program or university you are trying to support. Losing a recruit because of message board drivel is unacceptable, and these kids are so electronically connected not much will go unnoticed.

Here is the perfect example - Beau and I have had a running battle for years over a similar issue but I have never ever even considered "ignoring" him because he has other "good" opinions - Another is my buddy APP91 - if I am the glass half-full, he is the glass totally empty, we agree on next to nothing but I really like the guy and read his opinions and I will continue to try to bring him back from The Dark Side

I agree with everything you guys are saying, you should not call a kid out with language that is personally insulting for the indivional, should never use language that is embarrasses the kid, no place for that on any board, and anyone that does it should consider staying off message boards. But I will say this, there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism, I have done it with our offensive line, I just made sure I didn't call out specific players, and I didn't use fowl language to make my point. As far as recruits seeing reading boards and deciding whether or not to attend based on what he is reading, to be honest that is a pretty weak reason to reject our school, don't get me wrong, I don't condone someone crossing the line and insulting a kid on the board, but if a kid is basing his decision on reading a message board made of a tiny minority of the fan base, there is a really good chance he probably wasn't going to sign with us anyway, probably looking for an excuse to go elsewhere, and if a kid is that sensitive, it doesn't matter where he plays the first time he screws up, the fanbase he is playing for is probably going to post negative comments about him on their own board. Again, I want to be crystal clear, I don't not condone indivional attacks on players, especially with negative or fowl language, but, I also think its a bit neive to believe a kid who really likes App, and who strongly, and honestly could see himself playing for the black and gold, would instantly cross us off his list because some idiot posted something about him he didn't like.

Moehler: I believe the person we're talking about is AJ Wells, the kicker from Buena VIsta, Ga. Not long after he committed to us, someone on our message board made a stupid, uninformed comment about Wells' lack of stars from the recruiting services. Almost immediately, those of us who followed him on Twitter saw a softening of his desire to play at App. We'll never know what role that MMB comment had on his decommitment and subsequent commitment to Middle Tennessee State, but the dots sure seem to connect. No offense to Bentlee Critcher (who in my opinion has done a marvelous job under difficult circumstances) but imagine where we'd be today if we had a more reliable kicker.

Folks, rule #1 of posting on any college sports message board is that you don't say anything negative about recruits. Hope everyone gets that.

To the point that reading a message board is a bad reason for a recruit to make a decision: Of course it is. Guess what? 17 year old kids don't always make decisions for the best reasons. And these particular 17 year old kids are accustomed to nothing but praise, because recruiting is one big ego trip.
