Don't get me wrong, I like all the players we landed but our OL recruits range in size from 265-295 lbs. We are going to have to get much bigger to compete in FBS. I noticed even GSA has numerous OL from 315-360 lbs range.
Some good discussion on this subject a few days ago on this thread. In short, I think our OL have great size for their age. Most linemen in HS aren't going to be at their eventual college playing weight.

When you see a HS OL at 330 lbs., chances are he's looking at having to totally reshape his body before he can contribute in college. Even more so for App, running a spread offense, we need linemen who can move a bit.

Firemoose as many have already said.

Thank you for the work and dedication to ASU (we're the real ASU!)recruiting news, visits and updates. I haven't posted hardly at all in this thread but have read it everyday and several times most days. We all were able to keep up with what was going on through your efforts.

THANKS!

Just watched a few youtube clips from signing days and we aren't just getting good athletes next year we are getting some great people that come from good familes. Boyd and Noil's parents seem extremely nice and Harkness's momma, well she won't be hard to pick out at away games (she will be the one yelling at her boy)!

I have a family member who played 1 year College football until having a Sun Stroke working on the summer going into his Soph. year. He came in as college freshman around 6-5 245 give or take. But ended up going into his Soph. @ 300 plus. Recruited as a LB was switching to line. This was in the late 80's. So getting these kids to a proper weight is no problem, in fact I would want them this way so you can put on the right kind of weight for the line. Because it does you no good if you can't move up and down the field and losing weigh to get those kids down to playing weight is a strain as well and can take from the overall training to get stronger.

If we are looking for the new vs the old Ourrecruiting ranking is 3rd in the SB at 92 nationally nd will go up. Charlotte is 113 and the closest and 1st FCS team NDSU was 131. No SoCon team in sight. For a transition year a heckuva job by the coaching staff.

I am very excited about Noil. Seems like heck of an athlete from watching his film mostly playing FS.

One thing I am confused about is on the Sports tab (above) list his 40 time as 4.32.
I do not think this is correct however I wish it is true. Judging from film, he does not appear that fast.

I hate incorrect info on these recruits. Just like I see Mykelti Armstrong listed one place as 5'11" and another same as above as 6'2".

I have looked at every players video. I think Mykelti Armstrong maybe the class sleeper. Looks like he should have been rated higher then no stars to me. Any thoughts
He'll get rated, along with Moore at least. 24/7 just hasn't gotten around to it yet but John and Mike have asked the national people to look at them. The Ball State offer and our offer alone should make him a high 2 star, if not a low three, based on what we see. Remember Ga Sou has 3 stars that their only offer is from them.
My question with the rating system is how do they come up with the evaluations? Do they pull full game tape, or are they looking at highlight videos? Basketball recruiting to me is a lot easier to evaluate because of how often you can see these kids play. To me I want to see the kids worst plays along with their best plays to know if weaknesses are things that are fixable or not.

Obviously if they have a lot of offers from national powers they are probably a good prospect, but who is to say Junior Sigalo isn't as good or better than Kiante Walton, because from highlight tapes I am not so sure. Full disclosure I think Walton is a great player, but I LOVE the instincts and angles from Sigalo.
They were talking about that on the radio today. If I'm a 2 star recruit and out of the blue Bama, LSU or a team like that started looking at me and gave me an offer, I would move to a 3 or 4 star just because one of the 'BIG BIG BOYS" gave me an offer.... I don't agree with that at all. Like someone posted earlier, a lot of the guys who played in the Superbowl were 2 star guys....

I know what it says but until I can get a true time I have to go with what is listed. If you notice on his hudl highlights that's where the 4.32 is listed. I've looked at 7 different sites and they either list it at 4.32 or don't list it at all. I'll just remove it but you'll still see it on the video.

One thing brought up tonight at the event was that 3 of the 4 OL recruits are 6'5" and have broad shoulders, so they can add weight the smart way. They all looked very good on film.

Pipes...one other thing you will notice if you click on the athletics tab on his hudl highlights (which is where the 4.32 came from) they also have him listed at 10.4 in the 100M. That's world class speed. Now either both the numbers are wrong, hudl was misinformed, or they have his stats mixed up. I am checking with the staff and will try and get you the correct info.

I've always heard something about Friday night games years ago which I know HS coaches wouldn't/shouldn't be happy about but I believe East Carolina use to have the same problem and they've gotten past it. Just curious and would love to have some more background info about the program and our past history.
The Friday night game has little to do with it. Honestly, Coach Moore didn't place a high priority on recruiting NC due to the number of programs in the state. I've heard coaches across the state say they rarely see App coaches. One, from a ultra successful program, told me a few years back it had been 10+ years since a coach from App stopped by his school. Since Scott is a product of NC he is making it a priority to get back into the state.

I've talked to coaches who have said the same thing. But
those days are gone.

As I was sitting here bored after signing day, I looked at every signees profile. We lost a couple we wanted but after looking at offers from other school ( if they are to be believed) we beatthe following teams for our recruits:
MINNESOTA
INDIANA
ILLINOIS
BALL STATE
BOLING GREEN
MARSHALL
Washington State
Georgia Southern
Arkansas State
Hawaii
Idaho
Rutgers
Temple
Charlotte
FIU
We beat Charlotte on about 6 kids . Now with the number of offers we made I know its like overbooking a flight but we did have to compete with these schools. Only a few of our kids had offers fron old Socon schools. Now it's time to turn this ship around and win baby win.

Also just off the top of my head: Maryland, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Mississippi State, UAB, Air Force and a few more. You can see how many schools are going after the same small group of guys by how often the same schools keep popping up

Wonder if all the FBS naysayers ,the nothing but 3rd tier national championship proponents , honestly believe we could have attracted even 20% of this class as an FCS school. ?? Don't really care but curious.

The coaches definitely deserve a huge round of applause for their hard work on the recruiting trail this year. To be ranked 3rd in our conference, and to beat out a bunch of established schools including P5 schools is a big accomplishment. Very impressive considering we're coming off of a tough year while also making the transition to FBS. Even though we don't use negative recruiting tactics you can be sure some schools were mentioning those things about us. I'm really excited to see how we will do in the coming years once we establish ourselves in FBS!

reading some the team message boards, we seem to have really gotten under the skin of some of the Ark St fans, their complaints have ranged from the ranking of our recruits aren't accurate, (but of course, theirs are), to complaining about twitter. We seem to have got their attention and they seem to be annoyed that a 1st year FBS program, can be successful, atleast on paper, in their first year of recruiting.

Question for Moose or other recruiting gurus. Just went through 247 sports and saw a bunch of DT's still uncommitted. At this point is it grades or what that's keeping them as such. Is it possible we go after a couple with the DT decommit and Millhouse transfer.

Not a recruiting issue, not sure where to put it, but Greg Milhouse just tweeted that he is transferring to Campbell....
