Wouldn't THIS be lovely. Go Apps!

Re: Game discussion
This thread has been all over the map. Just wanted to bring it back to to ULL game and ask a couple questions. Has Meadors been hurt? I thought last night was the first time we have really used him effectively. That first catch was great and that is what he brings to the table. He showed his great hands several times last night. The int was a great defensive play or that would have been another great catch.
Why the big change in the second half? Coach indicated ULL made some effective adjustments and we just did not play well. To me it looked like we went back to grind it out. It was great to see our D play another great game but the second half was quite frustrating on the offensive side.

Re: Game discussion
Meadors broke his leg near the end of last season, probably still not 100%.
Hud is full of crap, the only person responsible for App's lack of offense in the second half was Satt, it was vanilla and he was never concerned it seemed. Which I was fine with given the injury situation.

Re: Game discussion
Thanks for the response. I forgot about Meadors injury. He looks like he is getting back to his old form and that is a good thing. The injury situation was actually what worried me about the offense. I don't know how many touches Moore had but between the last two games it has been a lot. I know we worked others in after Moore tweaked his ankle but asking a lot of our RB's. I was happy to hear Satt say after the game that it is time to open things up a bit. Looking forward to the rest of the season!Saint3333 wrote:Meadors broke his leg near the end of last season, probably still not 100%.

Re: Game discussion
I am not a big vanilla fan (more peach). That being said Satt seems okay with putting a team away then salting it away in the second half. Gotta love the shutout and the effort by lots of guys. I haven't looked at the participation report but it must be long.Saint3333 wrote:Meadors broke his leg near the end of last season, probably still not 100%.

I will say that Hicks hit the zone blocking holes at full speed. He is very capable of breaking a big run. Seemed much more decisive than Evans. Also pleased with the offensive line.

didnt say that rules dont matter, what i said is you cannot ignore the on field results. It is not as if one team had one arm tied behind their back. The azz kicking still took place, it just may not be recorded as such.appst89 wrote:App91 wrote:This argument has always been total bs. they did win, their players beat the other ones. They cheated. Any win gained by cheating is not legitimate. If the rules don't really matter, then why bother even having them?

Scott was the one who made the comments about UL's adjustments at the half. A combination of what they did differently and what we failed to do, produced a 3-10 performance from Taylor and 0 successes on third down in the second half.Saint3333 wrote:Meadors broke his leg near the end of last season, probably still not 100%.

Our first half was evidence of what our offense can produce, the entire game was a display of how stout our defense can be.

Re: Game discussion
I think that ULL's adjustments in the second half were only possible because Moore came out of the game. Once our running game slowed down, they were able to drop back and cover the passing game more effectively. Hopefully, when we play GS and Troy, we'll have Cox and Moore both along with some healthy receivers. The first half was very encouraging and I think we will match up well with anybody remaining on our schedule as long as we can get/stay healthy.

Can we just stop this crap. Yes, Marshall cheated. No, no one cares. Let's get back on the game. Hudspeth is the biggest whiner in the Sun Belt and we are 3-0 against them since becoming FBS when he was so adamant that App didn't belong. Screw him. Go Apps!

Satt was being polite, he has too much class to say we called conservative base plays once the game was in hand.hapapp wrote:Scott was the one who made the comments about UL's adjustments at the half. Re: Game discussion
I can't believe we're still debating this. For anyone wanting some SoCon drama go watch undefeated Chattanooga at undefeated Citadel this weekend (if it's even on tv anywhere). As for me, I drove 14 hours to watch the Apps Wednesday night and don't regret one minute of it. I look forward to doing it again.

Honestly can't believe there is anyone who wants to compare or go back to the socon. Blows my mind . When we take this to the next level and really start competing or defeating against p5's they will regret ever going there.

Certainly I could be wrong BUT my understanding of what was originally posted was that he was saying he missed the RIVALRIES we had in the SoCon - and if you guys were around from the 90s up until 2010+ then I am not sure how you disagree with that basic statement??? - Over 30,000 for Western Carolina and Elon and Wofford --- I don't remember anyone saying the SoCon football was better??? saying they missed the actual teams or schools??? - saying it was a mistake to have moved up??? - JUST MISSED THE RIVALRIES

Re: Game discussion
My interpretation of some comments regarding the SOCON are as follows: I don't believe any reasonable App fan on this board has any desire to go back to FCS or to the SOCON, or NAIA or D2, etc. I don't believe anyone wants App to go back to Appalachian Teachers College and I don't think anyone wants our schedule to include Lenoir Rhyne and Mars Hill. What I THINK I am reading is that many of the Sunbelt teams stink and I also think I read that some folks have a difficult time getting hyped up for conference games against teams hundreds of miles away in stadiums with 10k in fans. If I read some numbers correctly at least 3 of our away conference games last year had attendance figures of 10k to maybe 13k each. That is pitiful. The hope is that either our member programs pick it up with level of competition and with level of interest with increased attendance.
Again I can't imagine any football fan worth his salt wanting to regress. Bottom line..calm down guys.

Re: Game discussion
Generally, anyone who says that cheating doesn't matter or no one cares about cheating or that players on the field, regardless of if they should be on the field or not, determine the outcome, usually has ties to a team that is known for cheating.ukappfan wrote:Can we just stop this crap. Re: Game discussion
What rivalries? In our last year in the SoCon we had one rival: GaSo. If you miss the Furman and WCU rivalries now, you'd miss them just the same if we were still a SoCon member.WVAPPeer wrote:Certainly I could be wrong BUT my understanding of what was originally posted was that he was saying he missed the RIVALRIES we had in the SoCon - and if you guys were around from the 90s up until 2010+ then I am not sure how you disagree with that basic statement??? - Over 30,000 for Western Carolina and Elon and Wofford --- I don't remember anyone saying the SoCon football was better??? saying they missed the actual teams or schools??? - saying it was a mistake to have moved up??? - JUST MISSED THE RIVALRIES
6 SoCon championships in 7 years. No loses to WCU and merely one to Furman in our last JV decade. If your nostalgia demands old rivalries, you wouldn't be any better off if we stayed put. If you crave excitement circa Armanti, I'll remind you that Deandre Presley, Jamal Jackson, and Kam Bryant were poor substitutes to AE and those FCS offenses were far less dynamic than Lamb/Cox/Meadors.
