I think it should be a tradition at App that we have a flannel out on the first game that the temperature is 40 or below. Black and yellow flannel out.

I don't know why but I feel good about how we match up with Wyoming. Well, I do sort of know why. I think our offense can move it on anyone in the G5. I think this year's offense is more balanced and able to "take whatever they give us" than we have been in a while. I hope I'm right because I do think the Cowboys are solid and it will be a tough game. We can't spot them 14 points like we did ECU.

If we are remotely close to our productivity up until this point, (points per drives) we should be able to make them more one dimensional.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 5:18 pmI don't know why but I feel good about how we match up with Wyoming. Hope we don't do our traditional spot them 7 on the first drive. I get we play base the first drive to feel them out, but it seems the opponent has figured this out too.
Sounds like if it comes down to a FG Wyoming has the edge, their kicker has a monster leg, maybe the wind counters some of that.
This team is much better than ECU (but so are we).

Below 40? I’ve been gone for too long and am now cold temps soft, but below 40 and I’m in long johns pants boots, 3 layers and a beanie. With hand warmers. Maybe below 60 so you can see the flannels!spacemonkey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 4:41 pmI think it should be a tradition at App that we have a flannel out on the first game that the temperature is 40 or below. Re: Wyoming Discussion
Altitude is of some concern to me for this one, but more than that I am worried about the fact that the forecast is calling for 25-35 mph winds with gusts to 50 mph. While we run the ball well we need the pass to soften up the defense at times too. That type of wind is reminiscent of the Halloween game with GS that spoiled our perfect season. I'm sure coaches are taking it into account t, but it could be a challenge.

It will be a tough one. I hope we show up ready to play. They will ground and pound so we will need to throw the ball. Will be limited possessions.

And, if for some reason we're up by 18 or more by half time or third quarter, hope we don't go conservative.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
Special teams is going to be huge this game. The wind being a factor to consider on kick-offs, punts and FG's. If it comes down to it I sure hope we have the wind at our backs in the 4th if we need a FG to decide the game. Evidently their FG kicker is projected to be high on the list for the Lou Groza award. It'll be interesting to see which way the wind will be blowing on the field come Saturday.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
Not sure if it has been mentioned here but i had heard somewhere that our Nutrition person had made a trip to WYO this past summer to do some research on the altitude thing and how to prepare for it. Think we will be ready for that part.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
I am usually a realist on these games and understand that things can happen and any team can win. I feel great about this game. Bring on the weather.....bring on the altitude....bring on the big online and line.....we are going to run them ragged. I haven't felt this good about a game in a long time.

Re: Wyoming Discussion
This is a part of the game to keep an eye on. He gives them a huge advantage on special teams. He is not only a Lou Groza candidate but considered one of the top 4-5 NFL Draft prospects among kickers as well.QueencityApp wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 9:31 amSpecial teams is going to be huge this game.
