Press charges against DK Metcalf while you are at. Star WR did the exact same thing in the NFL. It doesn’t make it right but stop trying to crucify a kid for a bad mistake make in the heat of battle. I guess it just depends on prioritiesAppSt91 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:40 pmNo,he crossed the line swinging the helmet.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:11 pmSo I assume you feel the same way about every punch thrown in every fall camp? Y’all, it is NOT Collins.
Now, everybody take a deep breath. We’ll get through this together.

When you don't meet a controversy head on you get TMZ calling and getting the first comment from the school on this.
https://www.tmz.com/2024/08/07/app-stat ... th-helmet/
In a statement to TMZ Sports ... the school declined to specify who the attacker was -- although it did note the player was being disciplined internally.
"This behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated within the App State football program," head coach Shawn Clark said.

Re: Happy Fall Camp Eve!
If this event happened today...good response from the school. The school should not state who the player is publicly. This is not pro football. In addition, the school has a responsibility to have internal discussions... internally with both players, both players parents, internally with coaches, athletics department and potentially the Chancellor....that takes time.

It did not happen today. A day or two old now.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 7:15 pmIf this event happened today...good response from the school. I would take a step back now that I’ve seen the DL helmet was ripped off first. That part of the video we don’t see. Probably a retaliation move that shouldn’t have been. But we don’t see what happened first.AppSt91 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:40 pmNo,he crossed the line swinging the helmet.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:11 pmSo I assume you feel the same way about every punch thrown in every fall camp? I would ONLY say we are dealing with it internally and never say anymore publicly. I don’t know all details but from video only I say Shawn picks some form of discipline but nobody is thrown off team. You want these guys all fired up and ready to rubble so you have to be careful how you handle it.

The video doesn’t negate Shawn’s responsibility to report the incident per University guidelines. We would probably have been left in the dark with what happened.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:27 pmWould he have been suspended if the video never leaked? Fights happen all the time in camp/practice (although this is a bit more, swinging helmets on a defenseless guy without a helmet).
Also, surprised that a lot of fans don’t know who our players are without their helmets on.

Re: Happy Fall Camp Eve!
I’m going to be a lot less forgiving than most. Football is a violent aggressive game and I actually like to see guys have a fight or two during practice. To me that’s just part of the competition. But swinging a helmet like that at the head of one of your teammate, that a whole different thing. That could have ended very badly. If I was in charge the guy who swung that helmet would have immediately been escorted off the premises and would never return.

I was talking to another poster and I wonder how much the concussion padding helped in this situation to prevent something worse.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 8:53 pmI’m going to be a lot less forgiving than most. Would be great marketing material for that company. "Not only does it prevent head injuries from helmet to helmet football contact, but if a player goes rogue and swings a helmet, the pad will soften the blow."Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 8:42 amI was talking to another poster and I wonder how much the concussion padding helped in this situation to prevent something worse.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 8:53 pmI’m going to be a lot less forgiving than most. Joking aside, Glad Langlo is okay.

Re: Happy Fall Camp Eve!
It a more fun to talk about the prospects for the season and what players are stepping up, expected 2 deep. How we match up. Every time I get on this site it seams to be hijacked by useless arguments driven by ego. Just saying!
