Re: Game thread
Being ranked does matter, you get much more coverage nationally, and personally, I think it is great for recruiting and our program in general. I will always think it is great to be ranked, regardless of the general flaws with the process. #rankappstate because its more fun with a little number next to your name

Re: Game thread
We had a really good second half, specifically the third quarter. This team is showing things that past teams have not, the ability to overcome multiple significant miscues in a game. Generally speaking when we look lifeless in the game, have too many penalties, miss a field goal and have multiple turnovers, it is a recipe for a loss. This season, we have been able to get wins despite playing that way during parts of the game. That really says a lot about this team. Our defense has been absolutely unstoppable since the loss to ULL, can't wait for that rematch. Chase does throw too many interceptions, and it is a concern, but I still say he gives us an ability at QB that we just haven't seen at App. He has a really strong arm and nice touch. He goes through progressions like no other qb I have seen at App. He does struggle somewhat with pressure, but overall I will gladly take the good over the bad. I think this team has all it's goals still in front of them and I don't see anyone stopping us from accomplishing those goals.

Re: Game thread
Every game on ESPN+ uses the home team crew. It is why DJ is on ESPN+ on our games at the Rock. So yeah, they are a bit biased but I honestly thought these guys were very complementary of App and our program. Heck, they even talked about how good our games at the Rock look on TV and how our fans should be proud of showing up and creating a great tv atmosphere. I thought they did a good job even thought they are clearly Troy homers.

Re: Game thread
Brice completed 71% of his passes. First interception was a bad throw. 2nd was on 4th and 4. Given the pass rush, he was not going to gain the first down. If he wanted his stats to look better, he could have held onto it or throw it out of bounds. Ball turns over on downs.
D has been lights out last several games.
Let's go 1-0 next week.
Time to book flight to LaLa.

Re: Game thread
The home team crew today was pretty good, compared to some of the playcallers we've heard in the past on ESPN+ televised games. They were very complementary of our team and our fans.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:46 pmEvery game on ESPN+ uses the home team crew. It is why DJ is on ESPN+ on our games at the Rock. The second one was high but should have been caught. The first one sailed on him. Was wondering if someone got a hand up that forced him to throw it a bit higher?Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:54 pmBrice completed 71% of his passes. Give out staff credit for whatever was said at halftime. They get bashed every time something goes wrong so they deserve credit when it goes right.

Re: Game thread
And for the AP Top 25 poll, they send an AP reporter to all Top 25 games, so it literally does mean more coverage.AppOrange wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 7:53 pmBeing ranked does matter, you get much more coverage nationally, and personally, I think it is great for recruiting and our program in general. Sitting back, drinking some victory bourbon and watching all these .500 schools try and become bowl eligible and reading this thread is pretty entertaining from start to time of this post. Bring on Hate Week, Thanksgiving, and another chance for a Sun Belt Conference Championship. Beats anything going on in Conway. Give ‘em Hell!

Re: Game thread
It also appeared to me that Troy was very prepared for our play action in the first half. As soon as he faked the handoff and turned around someone was bearing down on him.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 9:29 pmThe second one was high but should have been caught. App now among 21 teams who can win 10 regular season games. I agree with coach. It’s hard to win college football games. While we think we should generally roll everyone other teams do recruit, coach, practice and compete. What we have done over the past 7 years is amazing.

Re: Game thread
Very good insight! All true statements! However, we need to not have those “parts of the game” where we have sloppy play! LaLa will eat our lunch if we do. We did play 3/4 of a complete game yesterday, finally. Now on to a complete game!!!!t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:43 pmWe had a really good second half, specifically the third quarter. Re: Game thread
Correct. It’s amazing to think that maybe another team with professional coaches and staff can look at 10 games of footage and maybe, just maybe come up with a game plan that works for a bit.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 7:56 amApp now among 21 teams who can win 10 regular season games.
