Re: UNC game discussion
With this many students being able to attend the game, it is pretty much a guarantee they storm the field especially if a winning score near end of the game. Students are going to be students. If it makes for a better student fan experience, have at it. Wins are hard and hard especially when it is a P5, even if a mediocre P5, given their resources..have fun...have at it ..

Agree. But wouldn’t it be the ultimate flex towards Carolina fans to treat it like a normal win?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 7:20 pmWith this many students being able to attend the game, it is pretty much a guarantee they storm the field especially if a winning score near end of the game. Maybe get the players with that mentality. With the projected number of fans, be like herding cats.... security officials do not have a chance in slowing down that train....with that said, it would be great if fans had the mentality fur this one "act like we been there before" .... hopefully they have the choice given we have won the game...AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 9:21 amAgree. Re: UNC game discussion
Maye was impressive last night, but we ain’t Florida A&M and UNC’s Chizik defense was awful against a decimated FCS team.

If our guys come out fast and hard we will see a great game. My worry is our defense staying on the field too much and the 2nd half turns into a shoot out. Go App!

Re: UNC game discussion
Maye's first outing - 5 TDs by a freshman already earned a place in the Hole record books,..... along with Zappe's stats in our last game have me a bit concerned. Sure hope that this has been addressed in our defense and defensive backfield in the off season?

UNC runs a traditional spread whereas WKU was running an iso power air raid system. It's completely different. Also, as far as I remember, App had 5 healthy DB's that game going against an offensive philosophy that is best defended with a 3-2-6 defense.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 8:54 amMaye's first outing - 5 TDs by a freshman already earned a place in the Hole record books,..... along with Zappe's stats in our last game have me a bit concerned. What should encourage everyone is that FAMU was able to cover UNC's receivers decently at times and they were able to get pressure. Their offense was also able to move WITH EASE up and down the field all game. They only had SEVEN offensive linemen going into the game and I counted 3 that got hurt.
I also wonder what benefit there may have been from the game being shown in All-22 for a while. May have helped some of the team who watched sort of rehearse what their responsibilities will be.

Re: UNC game discussion
We are on a 2 game losing streak against QBs that burned us through the air with potentially #3 on deck. I'd like to end that streak before it's #4 in Texas. When is the last time we had a 4 game skid?ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 9:34 amUNC runs a traditional spread whereas WKU was running an iso power air raid system. It's completely different. Come on man! He’s gonna see a much different game next week. Re: UNC game discussion
Exactly. He did it against a FCS team playing with a D-II sized roster. He’s good, but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 9:49 amCome on man! And they should…
This is THE most anticipated (by 10x) Mountaineer home game of all time …
Honestly, I do not think it’s safe to wear baby blue in Boone on the third. Most of the students and young alumni, are going to be “tailgating” all night

Re: UNC game discussion
Guess we will ride the roller coaster of emotions this week. Early on last night we had the "Heels look bad" guys. Then FAMU wore out and Maye looks great and the Heels look good. FAMU played hard and their QB is good but ultimately I take nothing from that game.

I'm not sure I understand your reasoning on this?

Re: UNC game discussion
It's because UNC was very vanilla across the board. Sure, you can check tendencies on specific players, but that's really all you can gather from that game.
One thing I noticed and I know will be called out in the film room is the hand placement of the DTs tipping off what gap they are filling.

Re: UNC game discussion
Yeah didn't really mean to say nothing. What I mean is FAMU played tough and was able to move the ball but that doesn't really mean the Carolina defense is bad and that we can shred them- hope we do. Maye looked pretty good but our defense should be faster and able to apply pressure- hope we do. I really feel like it will be a slugfest. FAMU just wore down and that "stable" of 4 and 5 star backs the announcers were gushing over should find tougher sledding Saturday.
I believe a huge key for us will be covering tight ends on seam routes. If we can't get pressure up front it could be a long day for the backers and secondary.

Re: UNC game discussion
I did not watch entire game. Did Grimes re-enter the game? He had to go into concussion protocol check I assume after that helmet to helmet in first half. Overall, I hope he is healthy as I want to beat them with all their 1's on the field.
