Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Every fan has known Satterfield would be leaving for at least two years. Of course he would take some assistants with him, because that is how it works. I can't believe all the grieving and hand wringing. We knew this was coming folks.
We have a new head coach, he will hire his people and he will institute his system, because that is how it works. This is a winning program with a winning culture. A coaching regime change is not going to implode the program. Don't sweat the small stuff, it's time to embrace the future.

Drink going to be the OC, HC and QB coach?
If he needs a QB coach I wonder if Trey Elder might be interested? He was the OC for North Greenville last year and was a HC at a high school the previous 4.

If I had to guess, I think Pete Thomas could be elevated to QB Coach. He is a State guyAppStateMtneer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:07 pmDrink going to be the OC, HC and QB coach?

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
If it's true regarding the Ivey and Jones deal breaker being a multi-year contract then I don't really see a "bad guy" from either side. Ivey and Jones want security during a coaching transition as they know sometimes new coaches keep prior staff members for just one season to aide in the transition of leadership. Drink needs the flexibility to make staff changes especially when it comes to people he has no prior relationship with, as good people don't always work good together. Good Luck Coach Ivey and Coach Jones! and Congrats Coach Clark!

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
If this whole thing went south over contract lengths, then so be it. Ivey and Jones went to Louisville on Monday and came back with offers in hand. They went to DG and or ED with the desire to stay under their conditions. Their asks were not unreasonable, but do they ask for multi year contracts if they don't have an offer from Louisville to leverage? They negotiated and lost. Move on.

If we get Woody I will feel lots better about all this. If we got Roof then I will not so good about all this. Hoping DG and Drink make the right decision.

At this point I wonder if Drink will have anyone with App ties or if he’s just starting over from scratch. Which would worry me about trying to have too much change what is currently working.

While he was at State basically one year, him and Drink were not there at the same time.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:23 pmIf I had to guess, I think Pete Thomas could be elevated to QB Coach. I'll be interested to see what types of contracts Ivey and Jones get from Louisville.

They all alluded to the fact that Ivey and Dale Jones would both be leaving. They said Clark would be staying and possibly Watts. Also said that multiple members of the staff told Coach Drink that Coach Gasporano was a rising star and some even recommended him to be the new DC. We shall see but that’s what I was told. GO APPS!!
We were told the same thing at our tailgate on Saturday before the game.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread
Don't know what the staff will look like next year but I did see a sentence on Ethan Joyce article about signing day. It was Drinks eval on one if the defensive guys saying the kid would fit well in "our" 3-4 defense. Obviously a side note but may be a good indication he will not try and change defense set up. It took a good year or more to get the 3-4 working. A good sign. That has been my concern with the staff changes not so much with offense. This defense has been so strong the last year or so, something we have not always had.

Had just saw that after I posted. Though I worry more on the D side of the ball. Really hoping there isn’t a change to 4-3 by anyone.
