Virginia went 9-3 in the ACC. I think it is safe to say we would likely go 9-3 or 8-4 in the ACC this year. Had we been in their division we would have gotten blown out by Clemson just like they did. I would say we could have played maybe 7-10 closer but still a blowout. Virginia earned it by winning a division of a P5 conference. We would probably be the 3rd or 4th best team in the ACC with our current roster.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:55 amThe other ridiculous screwed up aspect of the bowl system is the inevitable number of blowouts that will occur. Virginia made it to the ACC championship by default, gave up over 60 points and is slated for the Orange Bowl? They will lose by over 20 points and still take in way more than we will. Explain that please?
By some of our arguments on here then UNC should drop down to the MAC so they could go 12-1 or 13-0 and be ranked in the top 25 and argue they should go to the Cotton Bowl. 13-1 in the SBC is the best ever but still we don't have a win over a ranked team. You need ranked wins. Next year we could have two of them. 2020 is our real shot at the NY6, even with 1 loss as long as both P5s are ranked.

I guess we will know in a few hours either way.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:13 pmI take that back.... Looks like the payouts are about even. I've seen some fluctuations in payouts over the last few years, but appear to be equal recently. So, maybe your point is valid. If payouts are equal, it would be dumb to do that.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:08 pmTravel cost comparison? Bigger payout for Belk.... That's why the SEC would throw a bone for Liberty if it works out that way.
Liberty is around 2mil I think

Virginia will get a Top 4 SEC team. While Virginia is well coached, they are undermanned here. Their entire teams performance rides on Perkins and Perkins alone.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:17 pmVirginia went 9-3 in the ACC. I would expect them to as well but with 3 weeks to prep you never know. However, I would agree and believe they should. We are a good team but we would be undermanned as well. The top 4 SEC teams are top 10 in the country.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:19 pmVirginia will get a Top 4 SEC team. While Virginia is well coached, they are undermanned here. How did this turn into a uva football thread? They’ve had a pretty amazing turnaround under mendenhall. They have inferior talent, but he’s done a good job of maximizing it. I loke rooting for them because they have different academic challenges and have good kids who play for them

I was simply making a point that Virginia slid into the ACC Championship game because the Coastal wasn’t very good, got destroyed and still gets a sweet bowl game. I never mentioned us at all. As is typical guys ran with it- the wrong way!Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:37 pmHow did this turn into a uva football thread? They’ve had a pretty amazing turnaround under mendenhall. Who is saying App to Liberty was the Bowl that smoke was around?
I can imagine NOLA still wants Louisiana v. Louisiana Tech.

It was just my speculation as this is a bowl that will not be filled by the SEC.

That would be fun. I am still saying NO Bowl until one of the bowls, SBC, or App says differently.

Yeah. I'm not speculating or even supposing that's a possibility. But any game where App would travel out west to play, this would be the most ideal. Getting a coast to coast Top 25 G5 match-up would be pretty great.
Makes too much sense to happen though.

Re: Apparently App has legitimately been considered in Belk Bowl talks.
The only thing the Sun Belt knows for certain is that Liberty is going to the Cure Bowl. This is fine as well because this is the last year on CBSSN. Next year, the real push for that Bowl and hopefully New Orleans (with an AAC tie-in, they haven't announced their tie-in for 2020-2025).
Cure will be on ESPN, in Orlando, with a $1 mm payout. AAC won't leave that vacant again.

That's a little disappointing, but I don't want to be like the Toledo fans a couple of years ago. I hope our guys have a big chip on their shoulder and we hang 70 on UAB.
