Let's step back a minute. I can remember when Coach Moore came to town and went all black with the uniforms and away from gold pants. Had App ever not worn gold pants at home? That was the question asked by many. I have a white App polo that I ware to away games because we ware white on the road most of the time. It may have helped to keep me out of first aid at the ECU game as well as the 2007 Wofford which was worse. Each to his own. I can not wait for App State football. Wait a minute should that not be ASU football or Appalachian football.

I can remember during my years (99-03) and during the Richie years wearing black jerseys and white pants at home except for BS (see below). During my time following App State, and learning from my elders about the history, it seems the only tradition we have when it comes to unis is change.

Just about every away football game I have attended APP wore white - if white is not one of the colors why don't we only were gold or black? ---

I for one don't care if the players wear white. I prefer they wear black at home but white is ok. Now for me this is where I put my foot down. I wear black home or away. Always have, always will.

The deal is Football is the one sport where white is the "Road" uni as college football teams typically wear colors at home. White for college Football is the road "grays" for MLB.

Plus, our admin (new & old) is sooo desperate to "create" tradition via various "trial runs" they lose sight of the traditions that have taken hold.

An instance of this is our band use to play loud and proud between every play. We go to Montana for a game and they pipe the music in. Ever since then the band has been M.I.A. We had to play copycat.

One more note, for the home team to wear white you must agree in writing with the visiting school before the season begins. Since App has begun to advertise this I assume ODU has agreed, and in my experience they can be difficult to work with later if they perceive an advantage. You may be stuck with white now regardless of how the fans feel because your administration has done the deal.

Regardless of whether App wears black, gold , or white, I think that we have the fire power to send ODU back to Norfolk with their collective tails between their legs. That is what matters most !

It's a tradition for the last many decades at all levels that the home team wears the darker colored jerseys and the visiting team wears their lighter colors.
