SoS is irrelevant unless/until we're in the running for the NY6. I agree, though, with just a few good teams in the Sun Belt, I wish they could all play one another.Yosef84 wrote:Someone was posting that we lose Troy next year in order to pick up CCU. Exactly. I know that SOS means nothing in terms of bowl appearance, and we are getting a championship game in 2018 but for pure entertainment value and bragging rights, I really like having head to head games against the top of the conference.EastHallApp wrote:SoS is irrelevant unless/until we're in the running for the NY6. I honestly don't see any relevance in SOS - if we beat a P5 team and win the SB/ go 12-0 /possibly 11-1, we will be in consideration for the NY6, if not, we will be exactly where we are today --- being the 3rd or 4th SB bowl choice --- in reality, SOS has nothing to do with usYosef84 wrote:Someone was posting that we lose Troy next year in order to pick up CCU. yes, I acknowledged that. That's why I said for entertainment value and bragging rights. It's just a personal preference of mine. I'd rather play the top of the conference. National ranking and bowls are not the drivers of all things.WVAPPeer wrote:I honestly don't see any relevance in SOS - if we beat a P5 team and win the SB/ go 12-0 /possibly 11-1, we will be in consideration for the NY6, if not, we will be exactly where we are today --- being the 3rd or 4th SB bowl choice --- in reality, SOS has nothing to do with usYosef84 wrote:Someone was posting that we lose Troy next year in order to pick up CCU. sorry, I saw no reference in the statement I quoted --- all of us would like to play the very best teams possible ---

Which could happen next year . . . as eluded to, our conference schedule is highly manageable next year. If we can take care of our OOC, (which could actually happen), than SOS very much comes in to play with where we play in the post season, I think it is unfortunate we don't get to play at least one of those teams.WVAPPeer wrote:I honestly don't see any relevance in SOS - if we beat a P5 team and win the SB/ go 12-0 /possibly 11-1, we will be in consideration for the NY6, if not, we will be exactly where we are today --- being the 3rd or 4th SB bowl choice --- in reality, SOS has nothing to do with usYosef84 wrote:Someone was posting that we lose Troy next year in order to pick up CCU. Orange - I am not sure I understand what you are saying about next year - " SOS very much comes in to play with where we play in the post season," ?

Re: Troy falls to AK State 35-3
We would be in the conversation for the Access Bowl if undefeated in any given year - but with what appears a really bad SOS looking us in the face based on what our opponents records are this year, that could hurt and have us not seriously considered. I know its way to early to start thinking about next year, but by all accounts, our Conference schedule next year does not appear to have us playing the top of the conference, which is too bad, I think we need these games for our conference sake.

Western Michigan is in the drivers seat for the Access Bowl and our schedule next year is tougher than theirs was this year.
