If UFC is the opponent they are very aware. Montgomery was dead, no atmosphere, half the buildings are boarded up. I loved the history and food, but its a crappy city.No thankshapapp wrote:If it is Toledo in Montgomery, I would take that over a bowl in city that is likely unaware that the game is being played.

So when are the announcements supposed to be made already? I can't watch another minute of these five guys talking about the same top 6 teams. How much can you say about it?

Re: Bowl carousel????
It's outrageous that these bowls are allowed to choose. Our marquee bowl game is being filled with a sorry, 6-win LaLa squad. Now we're getting stuck in the same place we did last year. What does that mean? Conference champ or no conference champ, your post season is going to be the same every single year.
I guess I'll go back to Montgomery, but I'm sure more than half of the App fans who came last year won't. I like a lot of things about the SBC but this sucks.

I agree with Gonzo...SBC needs to place a value on the Conference Champion. I'll be backing the APPS no matter where we play! Montgomery not my first choice, but they did a great job hosting us last year!!!

Re: Bowl carousel????
I want the best bowl game for the program. It's not about me or my personal desire to make a side trip to Disney. I think a bowl game like the Cure gets swallowed up in a city like Orlando. With virtually no tv coverage no one other than fans of the two schools playing will even know this game was played. I'm not crazy about going back to Montgomery but if we're matched up against Toledo I'll take that instead of a 6-6 UCF team. Having the game on ESPN counts a lot in my book. Whichever way it goes I'll be there.

I agree with that......but the single most aspect that hurts I think is the Sunbelt has no alliance/ tie in with a P5 conferenceJMappfan5 wrote:I agree with Gonzo...SBC needs to place a value on the Conference Champion. Re: Bowl carousel????
I'm pretty sure I saw a tumbleweed blow along main street in Montgomery during our bowl game. It's a nice little city, but it was undeniably dead. After the game, festivities included one little pack of bars. My friends and I dropped into the brewery near by and were told it was closing...it was 9:45pm.
They didn't do a bad job hosting, it's just that they don't have a lot to showcase. I'd probably go back if we went say, every 2-3 years. But back to back? Probably not spending a couple hundred on that.

Re: Bowl carousel????
I've said it before it's Toledo I'm excited for the matchup. If it's Central Michigan, a 6-6 who's lost 4 of 5, it's a slap in the face to our entire program.
New Orleans is what it is. If ULL gets to six then it won't matter year in year out

Re: Bowl carousel????
If the opponent is anyone but UCF I might agree. I also want a shot at an AAC team as the conference as a whole is much stronger. Additionally, Florida is the most fertile of recruiting grounds. Also, CBS Sports Network is available nationally on satellite providers DirecTV and Dish Network, and regionally on fiber optic television provider Verizon FiOS, and cable providers such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Cablevision, Charter Communications, Insight Communications, Bright House Networks, Blue Ridge Communications, Mediacom, RCN Corporation, Advanced Cable Communications and Bresnan. So maybe a handful in the nation won't get it?Lowcountry App wrote:I want the best bowl game for the program. It's not about me or my personal desire to make a side trip to Disney. It's a chicken or the egg issue...
If you don't go to this year's bowl because you don't like the bowl game, you're only further validating the bowl committee selection process the Sun Belt has negotiated.

Guys, in most years we are going to either Montgomery or Orlando. I'm guessing most folks went to Chattanooga three years in a row without complaint. For me, the most important thing is the game. Thus, who we play is most important.Boone Goon wrote:It's a chicken or the egg issue...

I'm not completely stoked to go back to Montgomery either, but honestly Toledo is probably a better matchup than any other team we could play.

Re: Bowl carousel????
Of course App fans will add the pak to watch the game. A game on CBSS will not be seen by nearly as many people as a game on ESPN.ASUPATCH wrote:Then add it for a month for 13 dollars.

Re: Bowl carousel????
Good, then who matters will watch it, will we have a few less random 30 and 40 something men around the country checking out a few plays sure. 18 year old kids aren't watching either bowl regardless of channel.
