Did anyone else notice that the Head Linesman; a female, switched sides of the field after 1st half? Not sure I've ever noticed that happen before.BUTCH1991 wrote:AppAlum1 wrote:No one else seems to have noticed, but I think Hunt had his bell rung on the play before he went out down on about the 8 at the end of the game. I think Gilchrist tackled him hard & he spun around and the back of his head hit the ground & bounced. He came out of the game on his own & looked woozy going off the field. I don't think he came back in. It was hard to tell when I re-watched the game last night. And, the announcers missed it entirely, as it appears did most everyone else. But, I saw his head slap the ground and bounce.moonshine wrote:I have to agree with some of their fans about the coaching. Trying to audible when we were missing a DE and only had 10 players on the field. Not going for it on 4th and 2, especially with the success Hunt had on the last drive. Why was he not in the game??? If he was tired, call that last TO. And where was their (TE) Andre the Giant, I mean Michael Roberts, once they got inside the 10. That dude is a monster! He brushed off Mondo and Howard like they were toddlers on his lone TD catch. I think our fan base would be just as disgruntled if the tables were turned.
With that said, they aren't really giving App any credit, especially to App's D who held their team under 30 for the 2nd time all season and a season low in yards. The Rockets' D had no answer for the App run game and if the WR's could catch I don't believe this game is as close as the final score. Bottom line, App made enough plays to win between 2 evenly matched teams!
They cannot blame that on their coach. Although, many on their message board tried.
And, I agree about their big TE. I thought we would see ALOT more of him.
You nailed it and Gilchrist nailed him. After Gilchrist took Hunt to the ground after the 2nd down play, he was hurt and he asked to come out. The Toledo people seem kind of crazy on their comments. I agree we got away with some holds, but so did they. On Hunt's 1st TD run, if #4 doesn't grab and turn Boggs, Boggs makes the tackle and no TD. The refs seemed to swallow their whistles for most of the night.

Re: Toledo Board
Its not close to the same IMO. The fire Satterfield group appeared after an 0-5 start wherein we lost to a FCS school. Not after we went 9-3 and lost by a field goal to a conference champion that we were only favored to beat by 1 pt. This is pure delusion on their part.yosef13 wrote:Some are giving credit, some aren't. Some want their coach fired, some don't Typical response from a fan base. Remember the fire Satterfield group?MtnMan09 wrote:If this is redundant I apologize I didn't see another thread. I ventured over to their board, their reaction to this game is mindboggling. Calling for Candle's resignation and proclaiming it the worst loss in program history. How can losing a game Vegas had lined out as a pick 'em be that bad even if you weren't being hyperbolic in your mourning.
Their overall unwillingness to give App any credit was also baffling. Basically they lost because (1) the refs didn't call a "hold" on Evans' kick return and (2) because they kicked instead of going for it on 4 and 1 at the end. Nothing in between. I know we act delusional on here from time to time (see e.g. run up to the Miami game) but this is next level stuff.
Proud of Gonzo for giving them a quick driveby to try and bring some rational thought to the platform.

Re: Toledo Board
Another thing missed, by the ESPN crew completely, was Cox breaking 1000 yrds for the season, on the run after the missed FG.
They were probably focused on their abject surprise that we would dare win the game.
But such is the ESPN fourth string.

Why is this addressed to me? Am I to believe that going to another school's message board and reading their comments about the game is "trolling''? You obviously don't know what "trolling" is. If you meant to address this to an App fan who has actually made comments on their board, then address it to someone else.Boone Goon wrote:Rubber-necking on another team's board after a loss is one thing, trolling them is another. As a rule, I usually don't respond to comments like these, but this one sat wrong with me...
First, no it wasn't addressed to you. If it was it would say @appsolutely. And second I know what trolling is. Which is why if you read my post you would see the reference to rubber-necking. If it makes you feel better to go and watch/read another fan base twist on a loss, than go for it, but personally, I think it's tasteless. Just like none of us wanted to hear from Vol fans after the Tennessee game. Many on here felt like we were getting a pat on the head. And God knows I hated hearing from the UNCC basketball fan after the hoops game a couple of weeks back.
So, now Appsolutely, I'm talking to you. Rise above going and reading another fan's misery.

So, your original post wasn't addressed to me? Ok, then I will just move on. Just remember, not every fan who goes to an opposing team's message board goes there to dance in the end zone, talk smack, or revel in their "misery." Some of us actually go there to see what the game looked like from the opposing point of view, what the opposing fans' perceptions were, etc.Boone Goon wrote:Appsolutely wrote:Why is this addressed to me? I often times drop by other teams' boards for just this reason. To see what stuck out to them and to see if they saw the game in the same manner. What I saw on that board, and the reason I created this thread- sorry bcoach that you think its "boring" you are free to keep moving-was that their reactions were absurd to me. The takes they were giving were the type of takes Tennessee fans would have been entitled to if we beat them. Like there was no chance in hell that we should have won and that it was a program low point. As I pointed out earlier that's delusional for the type game this was and I felt, and it appears others agree, that it was worth pointing out and discussing. If you took time to read our fans' comments, there was no trolling or spiking the football that wasn't defensive in nature. I also don't see how it can be "tasteless" to visit another teams board, not comment, and report back to your own board to discuss what was being said.

Come guys (and gals) it's Christmas. We finished 10-3, won the Sun Belt, potentially end up in Top 25 or JUST outside...things couldn't be any brighter for App State (well, except for Men's Bball) can't we all just get along? We're all on the same team after all...

I love their fans lecturing us on how we are just an average FBS team while they somehow think they are top tier. Sounds like the crowd over on the AAC board claiming they are in the "P6."
