He said most. Those that were protesting were a small, delusional minority.

We just need Everts to be reasonable and cancel classes on Thursday game days. Boom, no parking issue. What Would Peacock Do?
Then the ANTIFA crowd can go back to merely vandalizing Boone instead of protesting football games with their professor demanding raises for their professor.

Get on a platform held by male cheerleaders and chug a beer Stone Cold Steve Austin style...In all seriousness, although that would be cool, I feel certain Peacock would do as you suggested and cancel class. Students (Most) would skip anyways.Gonzo wrote:We just need Everts to be reasonable and cancel classes on Thursday game days. Boom, no parking issue. What Would Peacock Do?

Re: Game Times Announced for First 3 Weeks
I wish we didn't play GS on Thursday night EVERY year too. I used to go to that game every year it was in Boone; now I haven't been to an App-GS game since 2011 and probably won't this year either. But there are tradeoffs with this whole FBS thing, which hopefully we all understood going in.
Part of the issue is that the Sun Belt just doesn't have enough good teams. Maybe when the league is a bit deeper then ESPN won't lean on the same four teams for most of its weeknight games every year.

Here's the coverage of the small group of ass holes. It includes interviews of ASU supporters, at least one of which was with a handsome man with an App flag.

Re: Game Times Announced for First 3 Weeks
I would guess virtually nobody is really upset about missing a day of class, and no, it's not that hard for a professor to plan around it (especially with months' notice). The protests will always be from a few students and professors who feel that sports have an outsized influence on the university, and thus will always oppose any emphasis given to sports, regardless of the circumstances around a given situation.
If opposition from a couple dozen people were the standard for blocking university decisions, I suspect the campus would look a lot different than it does today.

Not for me. I was paying my own tuition and parking fees. When an instructor failed to show, I was p!ssed.
I worked work study on week ends and when my parking spot was pre-empted, I was doubly p!ssed.

Do you think the couple dozen only represented themselves? Where there is one rabble rouser, there's usually a dozen who have the civility not to make a spectacle of themselves.
Another reason I don't like Thursday games is that I cannot attend along with countless others. I had to miss the UT game even though we had the tickets because my son couldn't get off work. Saturdays are for College football.

Re: Game Times Announced for First 3 Weeks
I think that because you dislike Thursday games, you want to believe that a small group of protesters represents a much larger group who also agree with you. But I don't know of any evidence that that's actually the case.NewApp wrote:EastHallApp wrote:I would guess virtually nobody is really upset about missing a day of class, and no, it's not that hard for a professor to plan around it (especially with months' notice). Why not? ;0) Some of us like to be able to see a game without having to pay for over priced motel rooms.ASU3432Mi wrote:Please, no noon games.

Re: Game Times Announced for First 3 Weeks
I was kinda pissed we never got Veteran's Day off, but got off for a game. I always just skipped; one professor even let me take a scheduled exam on another date. But that's a different argument. I agree with cancelling classes after XX:00 for logistics.
