That is true. But, I won't give up on these guys yet.

I learned that we should not sign anymore P5 contracts unless we negotiate for referees from outside their conference.

Penalties are our MO. It is not going to change. People used to blame it on Coach Moore but I am sorry it is a little late for that. We have a discipline problem we have no interest in solving. If we really cared it would have been solved by now. I am sick of it. We have a reputation for it and the refs will continue to look for it. Don't blame our stupidity on the refs.

Can you give some stats to back up your claim?bcoach wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 3:30 pmPenalties are our MO. It is not going to change. Re: BGP Postgame: UGA - Dawg Bite
Discipline on the field hasn't been a big problem for the past couple of years although it has reared it's head occasionally. Saturday was extreme and I absolutely expect the coaches to deal with that this week.
Regarding the comment that "We aren't going to beat a P5 team till we get someone who can throw the ball 15+ yards down the field," that is painting with a pretty broad brush. We have played our P5 games against the TOP of the P5. I assume you weren't implying that we can't beat ANY P5 because that's just ridiculous.

I absolutely must be blind or have zero football knowledge. The constant bashing of TL's arm is insane. We have proven we can win A LOT with him and his arm. I can't think of a loss where we could have won had he thrown more bombs. No way was that the case Saturday. We were right there against UT but some missed kicks got us. Clemson? No way. Troy last year? I think it came down to our D allowing a freak play? Someone please give me a real example.

Re: BGP Postgame: UGA - Dawg Bite
I think the play by play guys had it right. Ga was not going to let us throw long, which we can't do against p5 defense. We had way to many penalties. The refs missed keys calls for us and gave Ga a few key calls. And our defense did a good job considering the time on the field. And my biggest question is why we don't go hurry up, or more slants, or mix up the offense and throw more than 1 or 2 long throws even if they are picked. Note that our first down plays averaged maybe 2 yards.
I dislike starting my season with a beat down.
Again, another P5 game came down to 4-5 Ga plays, 4-5 penalties, and the fact that our offense is severely limited against P5 defense.
Good news is our defense is stout. There were no long kick returns. Hennigan will be a star very soon. Thomas looked good. And we still have a chance to win the rest of our games this year !!!!!!!

Agreed, we need to start doing something about it!

There isn't a real example. He is the chosen whipping boy for the naysayers. He can't do this, he can't do that. All he does is win and that is what counts. If you want to pick on him that's fine but go back and look at that dime that he dropped in Marcus Cox's bread basket on that wheel route against Tennessee that went for a touchdown. He may not have the strongest arm but 10 and 15 yard passes keep the LBs from crowding the box so that we can effectively run the ball.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:52 amI absolutely must be blind or have zero football knowledge. Don't need to. Anyone who has been to all the games has seen it.appvette wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 5:14 pmCan you give some stats to back up your claim?bcoach wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 3:30 pmPenalties are our MO. Re: BGP Postgame: UGA - Dawg Bite
One excuse I don't get for the defense is being tired. We had the ball for over 31 minutes Saturday and nearly 19 minutes in the first half.
They played well but the mental mistakes they made led to 14 points.

Pushing on bigger bodies and having to chase and wrap up those beast of a running back tandem will wear you out. Especially having your O go three and out. No time to rest.

Re: BGP Postgame: UGA - Dawg Bite
I really didn't learn anything that any of us that pay attention didn't already know, we have great difficulty competing with top tier P5 programs in the SEC, ACC and next year in the Big Ten. Our team still isn't talented enough or deep enough to handle these teams yet. Hope that will change but not really sure if it will. Those teams get top recruits and then make them better. How many guys on our 2 deep would be anywhere on Georgia's 2 deep? Taylor is a good G5 qb that knows how to win on our level and he wasn't even offered to walk on at UGA. Did anyone notice their stud true freshman qb that replaced their other top recruit true sophomore qb (sarcastically, since we all did)? It's talent and coaching and the top schools have better talent and most have good coaching. If we can't close that gap, and its doubtful against the top tier P5 guys we have been playing, then the results will be the same. We may get a shocker here or there but for the most part we will get beat down. Of course, most teams that play our opponents get beat down. We have a really good G5 team and should win 10+ games and a conference title again, but its a long way from Clemson, Miami, UGA, or Penn State next year. Enjoy the ride as you can, but don't get too down when we lose to these schools that frankly should beat us. Now, Wake is a different story altogether, and we better get in their A**.

Why throw the ball when your receivers aren't open and you continue to run off tackle on 1st and 2nd down for no yards? For Gods sake people go watch some film and learn something instead of trying to find low hanging fruit to Monday morning QB about.
