For G5 - Have zero desire to schedule any MW schools unless it's a H&H with Boise State, otherwise stay within footprint unless it's a H&H with the likes of Marshall, Cincy, Houston, or Navy.
I would disagree slightly with your statement on G5 H&H opponents. I don't mind H&H with top G5 OOC games, regardless of Geo, as it helps our SOS (due to weak SBC schedule) and national ranking for NY6 chances. Look at UMass this year, a strong win doesn't get anybody's attention on the national scene. Last year, ODU proved to be a nice OOC Win. Whereas any of the top 10 G5s would look good on our resume. If we are going to raise our National Brand then we need to be taking on some quality G5 OOC teams.

The challenge to this theory is probably trying to predict which G5 will be top 10 G5s in 4-6 yrs out into future.

I think you just have to try to schedule teams, whether G5 or P5, that bring something to the table:

- Quality opponent.
- Recognizable name.
- Driveable game for visiting fans.
- Recruiting footprint.
- Possible media interest.
- Appealing travel destination.
- Traditional/potential rivalry.

Most of those in the G5 ranks would be Southeastern teams, but I'd be all for a H&H with, say, San Diego State, Navy, SMU, UNLV, Air Force or (of course) Boise State.

Navy would be sweet. Everybody I know who has attended a game there says it is great. They are good and it would be a great venue.

I saw that Syracuse, Rutgers, and Baylor all lost yesterday to G5 schools. That got me thinking, would we rather play beatable P5s to soothe the ego, or play a top tier P5 that will challenge through competition?
Isn't Wake a "beatable" P5?
They're going to be coming to Boone at 3-0 with wins over Presbyterian, Boston College and
Utah State. They thumped BC pretty good, but really, who knows.
I wouldn't bank on 3-0. Utah State is pretty decent.

BC had 4 turnovers and Wake had at least 1 defensive score. Aside from the 4 turnovers, their stats were fairly even ~300 yds for both teams. Wake's D certainly is their strength.
