I’m just going to throw something out that is going to cause some people’s hair to catch fire. But, so be it.
I think it’s time, much like Satt did when we transitioned by sacrificing with redshirting guys that could have made us win more games immediately for the long term gain, to look to the future. I think it would be prudent to start Zac Thomas from this point forward.
I know. I’ve said before Taylor is the second best QB to ever wear the black and gold. But, none of that matters for this program moving forward. Taylor, for all the great accomplishments he has achieved, has had his opportunities to win the biggest of the big games. They now are all in his rear view. The schedule we have left is the weakest in FBS. These are the games Taylor will win. Can come in and win. But, the monumental wins are in his past and they passed without a W.
It is, without question IMO, in App’s best interest to start Zac the rest of the year. We would not have to worry about a green QB with a weak O line. And boys and girls a weak O line is coming. Heck, it’s half way here.
They say great teams, great QB’s and great coaches find a way to win close games. We have found a way to lose at UT and at home against Weak. Not all of that is on Taylor, especially the Weak game. But, it’s over and it just never happened. Let’s find out what we have with the guys we have while Colby and Nunn are here. If we don’t do this, next year has the potential to be ugly early and often.
My God. Against Wake TL played one of the best games an App State QB has ever played and you want to put in a replacement. Jesus.

"The most popular player on a football team is the backup quarterback." That's so true in regards to this fanbase. I promise you if Thomas was better than Lamb he'd be starting.

I look forward with great anticipation in seeing Taylor Lamb finish his career on a high note by leading us to a conference championship and a bowl win.

Meanwhile, for future considerations, this commit is making some waves in Forsyth County:

ashugh's suggestion is extreme, and it's an easy trap to fall into given where the program is now. App has already lost both P5 games this year and is staring down the barrel of a repeating previous accomplishments (save not sharing a conference title which is not entirely in App's control). Add to that a feeling of over confidence about this App team's talent, skill and coaching compared to the remaining teams on the schedule and it's not that far fetched for a fan to start looking past the rest of this season and begin worrying about TL's replacement . . .it's just WAY too early to be thinking about that.

Yes, there are a ton of reasons that App blowing out some of the remaining opponents to give the back-ups some game experience would be great. GIving those guys game experience is not compelling enough to pull one of App's greatest QBs before the outcome of the game is obvious.

Steph is the one guy I do not want getting flipped from us. I think that kid has the possibility to start from day one his true Fr year.

Remember back in 2006 when Moore/Satt benched a very good, very popular Junior QB who helped us win a NC, in favor of a better freshman? If there was a better option he would be starting. Just like Lamb replace Bryant because he was better. The only thing wrong with Lamb is he is not AE. Guess what, we may never have another one of those. When you bitch about his inability to win a big game go back and watch his late game drive extending runs against Toledo last year. After Wake I thought this talk would go away. We are not P5 and yes even Wake as an ACC team is going to get more talent than we do. We I think are better at turning 2* guys into 3* talent and that is why we can compete with lower level P5. But if you think we are going to have a lightning strike more than once every decade or so you are in for a disappointing ride. We are not going to beat most SEC teams and most likely they are going to beat us badly regardless of our QB. Go back and watch AE's helmet get knocked off every time he tried to run on LSU in 2008. There is a reason.

I am fascinated by the stupidity of this post. Lets bench a darn good qb because he didn't beat Wake or Georgia? WTF. We have a very talented team that is going to do great things in our conference this year. We have a chance at a conference championship...again...after only 4 years in the Sunbelt. I am proud of Taylor...was a little pissed about the turnover at Texas State...but am very proud of him and what he's done for ASU!! It would be AWESOME to get an outright championship this year AND another bowl WIN..

As long as we are doing well in our conference and against our other peer conferences...I'm happy. We're gonna get a win against a P5 eventually. People tend to forget too that we dont play P5 bottom dwellers. We have a history of playing the best P5 teams. Wake is a darn good team this year and is probably a bowl team.

It's going to be interesting to see how they perform against Florida State later today.

TL did enough to beat Wake...others on the team caused us to get beat by Wake. TL didn't jump off sides, TL didn't take the ball and throw it down on the ground after catching it. TL wasn't blocking on the blocked FGs. TL did plenty to beat Wake. Trust me on that.
