Moose....I noticed the newly signed recruits that App State Football has been tweeting this past week. Jay Person's jersey number caught my eye. Is this just for the photo, or will he be wearing the forbidden number 1? I know jersey numbers are usually decided later, but was just curious to know if that was promised during recruiting. I apologize if this belongs in the other thread.

No problem. In most cases they will try and dress them for the photos in their HS number. Person plays with the #1. Most numbers will be assigned once we get guys here and, especially on D with this class, when we figure out where they fit best.

By NCAA rules offensive players have groups they are recommended to be numbered in. Only "rule" they like is for the linemen to be between 50-79, and usually they like the numbers to get progressively higher as you move outward on either side. No rules for D players. And the numbers are 1-99 so if Person wants #1 nothing in the rules says he can't have it. NFL is more structured for both O and D as far as numbering goes but given we don't have anyone currently with the #1 and we already have to double numbers guys because we don't have enough I would guess if he wants it he can have it.

Awful. At first glance the pants looked like blue jeans.

Might work, but I agree at first glance this combo looks just awful. Helmet is cool I like the rocket logo.
