(FTR-I was not in attendance for the game last weekend, but it was an excused absence.)

A little more to do within a two hour drive of Boone than Missoula or Fargo...Plus 16 K for a home playoff game in a town of 200K is not a number I would scream about!Saint3333 wrote:We have a great core of 15k fans at App. I think NDSU and Montana has a more faithful fanbase than we do. If App played NDSU in Frisco I'd wager they'd bring more fans.
Not for me....I am there regardless!....but if the only game in town was a playoff football game in Fargo...I'd say we/they should have more than 16k.Saint3333 wrote:Sounds like an excuse to me.
They still will and people are tired of watching us playvegattk wrote:We'll see the same type of attendance in the regular season once ASU gets closer to the .500 spot in the FBS...

That is very wishful thinking. If we get around .500 17k will be a nice crowd.Rekdiver wrote:They still will and people are tired of watching us playvegattk wrote:We'll see the same type of attendance in the regular season once ASU gets closer to the .500 spot in the FBS...

schools with 3000 students . We will continue to draw like we are now.

No argument for a year or two. Years 3 and 4 at around .500 and I think you are going to see well below that25,000. The good news is that if I am wrong about that I will be very happyGonzo wrote:No F'in way, man.bcoach wrote:That is very wishful thinking. Playing FBS opponents at home will make attendance skyrocket. People expect the transition to yield some .500 level seasons.
I really don't think we are capable of averaging less than 25,000 barring 3-4 seasons in a row of sub .500 seasons. People don't just come to App games to see a winning team, they come for this:

A little slow this morning. going to get more coffeeGonzo wrote:What you are doing is what's called "sand bagging."
I think it would take several poor seasons for our attendance to drop close to that level. I also believe we could consistently put a winning product on the field at the FBS level.bcoach wrote:That is very wishful thinking. If we get around .500 17k will be a nice crowd.
Just for the record I am not talking about FBS. I think the same would happen in FCS, but again I hope I am wrong, or better yet I hope we will never know.asumike83 wrote:I think it would take several poor seasons for our attendance to drop close to that level. We had over-capacity crowds for every regular season home game after The Citadel put 52 on us. As much as we (myself included) like to complain about all the folks who come to tailgate and leave early, game day in Boone has become a big social event. People will show up for the party, even more so if we start putting recognizable names on the schedule.
I agree. If we start putting a mediocre product on the field, attendance will certainly suffer after a couple years regardless of FCS/FBS. We have our die-hard core of 17K-18K that will be there come hell or high water. With an administration that is committed to football, I am not overly worried about having a long string of futility. As we've seen, sub-par performance will result in changes.bcoach wrote:Just for the record I am not talking about FBS.
