College football = greed. I do the job I do because of what I can do for my community, my family, and the children. It's always been about giving back. Some people look at a job as a way to secure a financial future or leave something for their kids... I get that... I really do. I guess I was raised differently and look at this with different eyes. I look at the story of the workers in the vineyard from the Bible. They all agreed to work for a penny a day (regardless of start time).... Sat agreed to work for a set salary (with incentives) for a set time. He should honor that. When that is up then move on. It's the honorable thing to do.
I agree. Even though that ship has sailed imagine how much better that aspect of college athletics would be. It would also be much better IMO if coaches simply got the regular salary (as employees) and zero booster money. I’d booster money simply went to facility improvements and scholarships a lot of BS would go away. And if a coach was given a 4 year deal he would be able to coach for 4 years without fear of being fired simply because of not winning and could only be dismissed due to cause. Buyouts could go away and schools would just have to live with the guy they hired AND if they extended contracts that would be on them.
Think about all of the wasted money when it comes to coaches in college football....

But yeah, it will never happen

We all know that Satt is a great coach.

If anyone can turn the U of L situation around, it is Satt. Most of his coaching skills were developed here at ASU.

I don’t want him to go, but I also don’t want to hold him back. He is the right age in the right place at the right time.

I don’t want him to look back in 10 years and say “I could have” or “I should have”.

We can’t touch U of L’s money. They are 100 years older than ASU... so they’ve had 100 more years to develop resources.

ASU began as a teaching facility. And we taught Satt. Now (if he chooses), we’re going to see the product of the ASU learning experience tackle a very difficult P5 sports situation.

I will be watching and I’ll be one of his cheerleaders!

If making nearly a million in Boone isn't enough, then let him go.

I don’t understand how anybody that is an App fan can feel any negativity towards Satt if he decides to move on to another program. He has given us 20 plus years of his career. He has been great to us.

In today’s world, most people typically make several key moves throughout their life to advance their careers. It may be for for better prestige, more challenge, more money, better position, more authority, better work environment, for family, etc. That is very normal. IF Satt takes another job it will be to advance his career.

Satt has been very loyal to App and will be considered one of our best regardless of what path he chooses. You can be unhappy but it is totally unfair to say he is doing App wrong by advancing his career.

It really pisses me off when I hear folks throwing shade at Satt for even thinking about making a career move. It’s wrong people!

I agree 100% with this post. Satt has given his all for App. I hope he stays but I certainly won’t feel betrayed if he decides to move on. Can’t fault him for advancing his career and doing what’s best for his family.

Satt is in a good position. He ain't got to go anywhere. He has been successful and his record is very good. If UL or anyone else wants him, they need to meet his expectations. If not, he will stay here and have another great year next year.
