We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Watching ESPN+??
When did this become a thing? I don't ever remember a "lightening in the vicinity" delay.

Don’t know. I’m listening to the radio broadcast and that was the announcement.
We use the lightning delay during baseball.
I would rather the University make a delay call than have multiple people struck by lightning. It’s a lose/lose situation when the delay call is made. But you have to protect everyone the best you can.

This has always been a thing. Every time lighting strikes within a 8 mile radius of the game, the delay timer resets to 30 min. It’s NCAA policy.

Lightning: need a ThorGuard system. Tells you lightning is coming, not has happened. Plus it gives an “all clear.” Could be 15, 20, or whatever delay. Might not be 30’ or hours like this
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Kind of hate saying this but you are 100% correct. I know Pierre Banks is a Mountaineer and all but come on....I have about had it with his commentary. It’s pretty embarrassing and Harrison Battle isn’t much better. It seems like he ought to at least know the App players. It’s amazing to me that visiting team fans aren’t complaining like crazy.

Pierre will literally say a game is over due to the score then proclaim that there is still plenty of time remaining. And my god I thought he said painted area a lot with basketball but he says it over and over with football too.

I met Pierre a couple times at App because we were in school at the same time. Always a great guy. Also, I’ve announced some high school sports a little; it’s hard. But it’s difficult to listen to the ESPN+ crew. I liked it when there wasn’t any sound.

Re: Watching ESPN+??
If this system were in place it would give the NCAA another option. It's used all over: NFL, PGA, high schools. The thing is lightning could be seen but the cell could be moving away. The ThorGuard would detect that and could give the all clear. I guess it's possible the NCAA is behind the times and not up to current state of the art technology..... (insert sarcasm here)

I’m at the home games so I don’t see the broadcast, but have heard a lot of how bad the commentary is .Interesting that David Jackson does the ETSU games.

Re: Watching ESPN+??
The streaming was really poor at the start...no sound, no scoreboard and of course no first down or scrimmage lines. Later once fixed, had to endure poor commentary.
Also as usual, the late night broadcast news channels mentioned and showed clips in Charlotte of the UNC game and UNCC games but not even a score posted for the App game which is as we know THE Football school in NC.
