Obviously the target on our back is huge and we have to stay focused this year, but are the fans looking past someone if we discuss our rank?

I just hope our players ignore it. It is good to note that we are ranked but now it means nothing for our team if we don't defend it. The bullseye just got even bigger on us. We can't lose a SBC game and remain ranked for sure.

I hope to hear from people what they know on ULM. We are a 21 point favorite but I hope to beat them worse than that. Zac Thomas needs to come out throwing to Sutton and light them up.

Yes - of course - we are fans --- I don't remember every reading or hearing the players or coaches saying their goal was to "make the top 25"

Obviously i started this thread in jest, as I was tired of being scolded for not focusing on the next team when we discussed being ranked; I know Coach Drink won’t let the team get too distracted by this.
That being said, I do believe Coach said being ranked was a goal the team set before the season started. The team also mentioned a NY6 bid, but Drink didn’t write that down as too much was out of our control to make it a goal.

Rock, the way I see it. We can say what we want about being ranked, the next game or the South Carolina game. What we as fans type on this board has NOTHING to do with the play on the field. They guys know what they have to do out there. They are focused 100% and know next game they have to go 1-0. I would never scold you for not focusing on the next team. Keep talking my friend. We were ranked for a full week. It was painful to watch that score scroll across the bottom of the screen all day Friday and Saturday.

I believe we got ranked on Sunday, then proceeded to get the crap beat out of us Thursday night. We were technically ranked for a week yes, but only because they don't take mid-week votes, haha.

I won't be. I think they are truly looking at things 1-0 and will stay focused. The rankings mean nothing and they hopefully realize it now. I expect a 25+ point win unless we just make stupid mental mistakes and turn the ball over.

This is my thinking. Embrace it, embrace the opportunity in front of them. No point in playing scared that they are going to “blow” their ranking.

Everything they want to achieve is right in front of them and it requires winning every week. If they want to finish as a top 15 program in the Cotton Bowl, it requires them destroying ULM this weekend. I bet they will be hyper focused.
