This is another “what if” thread, so be warned.
If you plan to run in here and remind me that we need to go 1-0, save your breath. I agree. So for the sake of this conversation, assume we go 1-0 each week until the SBC. We have to take care of our business first.
That said, we need the Cajuns to dominate these next couple weeks. They’ve got USA, Troy and Monroe. 3 very winnable games that would put them 10-2 heading into the SBC.
What are the chances they would be ranked? They are already receiving votes in the polls. They’d be a 10 win team with a loss to an SEC team and a ranked App State.
My perfect scenario is the Cajuns roll into Boone on Championship weekend ranked 23-25. This has been a season of firsts for the Sunbelt and I’m definitely hoping we see another first. A ranked battle for the SBC crown.
We can’t carry the SB alone, no matter what we think. Rising tide, etc. The Cajuns have a heck of a ball team and I think they’d deserve the accolades and a chance to get beat in Boone as a ranked team.
But boy would that help our resume.
It would help but I don't see any chance they are ranked and I don't think you can argue they should be. A 10 point loss to us and to a Miss State team who people don't think are even a top 35-40 team. If they had beaten Missisippi State then I would think they should and would be around 27-30 range just behind us. I would imagine if they are 10-2 they will be getting some votes in both polls and that will look pretty good.
If they had beat MSU and Georgia Southern had beat Troy and Minnesota then we would have 3 teams getting votes right now and that would look strong.

They have 1 point in one poll. For the SBC Week, they likely get to right outside the Top 25 but I doubt that they get in. If App keeps winning until then, they are likely to get to around 20. Beating 10-2 Louisiana in the SBC would put App in solid position should the AAC falter.
1-0 though bro.

If Georgia Stink had beaten Troy? Well, APP would be on the outside looking in right now. Thanks Georgia Stink for choking.

Exactly. Even if we win out and the AAC champ has 2 losses we still don't get in if Boise State wins out. A 1-loss Boise State would get in for sure. They have the name and the MWC is a slightly tougher conference.
