My time was Furman and Marshall and the birth of the GaS. The Stink has become the best rivalry by definition. The Whee thing has always been a result of their own envy for us simply put and it still exist to this day. I think WC and JMU were born from the Obnoxious family with a distant cousin Marshall. WC being the envious step child and JMU being the privileged underachieving oldest child

I consider Marshall the best football rivalry we've had in my time. WCU died a pretty quick death by the early 90s , on our side , not theirs certainly. Southern fielded the role by default.Looking ahead to something bigger and better , hopefully in the not to distant future.

I agree and I still hate Marshall. The eagles got into our conference around the time I was graduating so that rivalry didn't exist during my student years but clearly they are our biggest rival based on the history of our teams.

I'm with you. I was at App during Marshall's last years in the SoCon and I still hate Marshall probably as much if not more than Ga Southern. I don't remember much caring about the Eagles until the Turds had gone on to cheat in the MAC.

I still hate Marshall. Don’t keep up with them but always smile when I hear they lose. I would find it hard to ever pull for them, even if it would benefit App.

10 buss loads of mediocrity and over hype. They can’t perform a show without an electronic background. I’m good with not being western Carolina.

I was at App '04-'10. IMO, GSUck & the Purple Pansies (Furman) were the most hated. Especially after the '05-'06 season when Furman beat us during the season but us upsetting them in the playoff semifinals. But no matter what, I never hated Western a bit. Even when they beat us for the 1st time in 74883 years back in '04. I never disliked them. Maybe b/c they suck so much? Even now lol.

Nowadays, I can't stand GSUck. I know Charlotte doesn't like us so we may have started something new. Especially after beating them back to back in football & last week in basketball.
