That's exactly what he was saying though. Listen again and turn up your volume. You will hear, right when he says "and win the Sun Belt....SEC East", there is a voice that says, "You just did that". In closing he responds "and yes, I just did that".proasu89 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 2:54 pmExactly. I got a kick out of all the people who thought he was saying he won the Sunbelt.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:35 pmI took his comment about "I did just do that" as a reference to his verbal gaff (saying Sunbelt rather than SEC) not as a reference to accomplishments.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:49 amTo give you some context, he was looking at the paper when he said Sun Belt. I'd bet that it was the same exact sheet he had his statements written on last season and he forgot to make the change of Sun Belt to SEC.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 8:10 amI know we need to move away from Drink, stop bashing him, etc. But...
Did anyone hear the ESPN show with Mike and Trey about 7:45? They played the soundbite (I have no idea how to get it and post it) from what I assume is Drink's introductory presser at Missouri. If I didn't know any better it was the exact same thing he said when he was introduced at App. He said that they have one stated goal, to win the Sunbelt (yes not SEC) East with yep, you guessed it..Integrity, class and academic excellence. Needless to say the boys on the show had fun with that one and talked about how Missouri should be able to win the Funbelt. That part I am not so sure of but I digress. Sorry Drink but that was priceless.
I also like how when he did correct himself, he said SEC East, because he knows he ain't beating the West. I also like how at the end he said, "and yes, I did just do that". Not we, not they, not anything he preached and harped on all season. He said "I".
That would bother me more than any of this other crap that's been thrown around about stepping stone and integrity.
He was talking about winning the Sun Belt. Not "I just did that" as in "Yes, I just messed that up".
It's a minor detail and of no consequence but it is more telling than any of the other crap people are pointing to.

What did the contract stipulate was App State's property? It can't be the green 70 page spiral bound college ruled notebook that Coach Red took, can it?

Well, he is dead to me. As far as I’m concerned, I’d be good with not hearing his name again now that Clark is here. Drinkwitz will more than likely disappear into irrelevance like any other SEC East coach not wearing Red or Blue. Thank you for your $800k donation to Appalachian athletics and reminding us what’s most important to our program.

Personally, I think he will be fine at Mizzou. They had a Top 20 defense but their offensive staff was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with a player better suited to a spread option look. Drinkwitz, while not Lincoln Riley, will find a way to utilize what he has and maximize their production capacity. Lest we forget that not all that long ago Mizzou won two SEC East titles in a row. They came in from the Big XII and essentially shoved a knife through the seal that was "No one else could compete in the SEC".appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 3:49 pmWell, he is dead to me. Athletically they have quite a way to go, but if Drinkwitz can do something he hasn't had the ability to show yet, he could be the next Lincoln Riley for all we know.

Seriously, how are you not hearing that? He clearly is saying "I did just do that" meaning, "I did just win the Sun Belt with bleh bleh bleh". If I was ever 100% certain of anything, it would be this.proasu89 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 6:06 pmFor the first time in your life.....you’re wrong.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 3:46 pmThat's exactly what he was saying though. He isn't using self deprecating humor about his flub saying, "yeah, I just messed that up". Its not in his personality or humor repertoire to make fun of himself for a mistake. Add in the fact the guy says "you just did that" right after Drink says "win the Sun Belt", there is only one logical conclusion to reach. And it isn't the one you're reaching.

Can we stop with Drink crap? He’s gone. He’s the past. He won some games for us, great. He’s at another school now, fine. Enough is enough.

I watched DQ’s introduction at Mizzou. That was a big production. Don’t know if that’s standard for SEC but quite a bit different from his 1st HC presser.
I’m pulling hard for coach Clark. He loves App State as much as I do and that’s strong in my book

Florida State did something similar for Norvell. Walked in the stadium with marching band forming a tunnel all the way down the field. Was kind of cheesy.

I agree the over the top production and gushing over any of these guys is nauseating. Drink, just like Clark is just a freaking football coach! None of them are the second coming. Like the other threads this will die it’s death. I only found it funny that the nationally syndicated ESPN radio show carved out some time to make fun of his gaffe. I watched some of the presser on You Tube. If there was a drinking game and you had to take a shot for every cliche, acronym or wise saying that Drink spouted you would be plastered. A couple is one thing but it’s non-stop.

Drink, Drank, Drunk.....(my status tonight)……. let's close this thread and move on. The guy did his job but he left and we are better for it. I for one am thrilled that Shawn Clark is now our coach and could give two shits about the last coach that fled a top 20 team. He is yesterday and I don't dwell in the past, onward and upward with Shawn Clark! Go Apps!
