Can't we just take it for what it is, a thank you to the App Nation. Can we stop trying to psychoanalyze everything he does? We've got the guy we wanted, let's be satisfied with that.

Re: Drinkwitz letter in WSJ
Sometimes things can be mutually beneficial vs. binary.
Coach Drink is on to his next endeavor. Appalachian State and it's culture will influence him in the future. Don't be surprised to see elements of the Mountaineer program appear at Mizzou over the coming years. (Look how Satt morphed the Louisville program in one season). He also got a year of head coaching under his belt and all of the off-field (except for developing a recruiting class) challenges that come with it.
Drink is still young in coaching terms and made some mistakes along the way. But, he seems to be the type of guy who recognizes this and tries to make amends.
App State finally knocked off another P5 (conservative or not, the coaching staff put the team in the position to make it happen), then doubled down. The asset was managed well and we're Top 20, continuing to become a national brand and now 4 time Conference Champs.
Plus, we added a buyout to the coffers. It's an analogy, but much like a rebound after a long relationship, we bridged the Satterfield and Clark eras without any downfall of the program.
Two weeks ago, many were posting that we needed to find a way to keep Drink. I think most are OK with the Drink drama behind us (if he had stayed this year, it would have reoccured next year, or the next) and are happy to have Drink at Missou and Clark at the helm with most of our coaching staff returning.

I’m sure you know from your litany of FBS head coaching offers that introduction week is a super slow week for said coaches, right? Stop crying just to cry.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 10:25 amIt only took him a week to get something out. We've got our coach and a bowl game to worry about.

Not to mention, the Sunday edition of every paper is generally the most widely circulated. Putting it there guarantees the most eyes on the physical message (for fans that maybe don’t check the online edition, or get emails).Yosef10 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 5:58 pmI’m sure you know from your litany of FBS head coaching offers that introduction week is a super slow week for said coaches, right? Maybe he wanted to be a dick and twist the knife on this board one more time, but I seriously doubt it. If anyone wants my advice; just let him go. Stop worrying about him. You’ll be much happier once you move on.

I "next man upped" last Monday and am over it. We have a bowl game to worry about.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 7:46 pmNot to mention, the Sunday edition of every paper is generally the most widely circulated. Re: Drinkwitz letter in WSJ
In retrospect, Coach Drink effectively functioned as an interim. That's not necessarily a bad thing and the more I hear the more I think it's what we needed. Any time a beloved leader (Coach, pastor, whatever) leaves after a long tenure, it is an unenviable job to follow him/her. Coach Drink provided a buffer for App Nation to heal from Satterfield leaving and managed to deliver a 12-1 season, conference championship and top 20 ranking while doing it. We now have the road paved for another true App Son to take the reigns. It's not what we had planned but it appears to be working out very well.
Folks should turn loose of that resentment. I can assure you, it's NOT hurting Drink! He's an SEC coach getting paid $4M a year. In my opinion, he got there with a clean conscience. I hope he continues to learn and develop and wish him a successful career!
Thanks for the classy ad/letter, Coach. Thanks for setting the stage for Coach Clark to launch his own head coaching career!
GO APPS! BEAT UAB!!!

He didn't bring one in and develop one. Hence, he hasn't experienced that part. He did develop Satt's recruits, but that's different from bringing in a class and developing your own.ericsaid wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:57 amWhat is wrong with the recruiting class?WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 4:08 pmSometimes things can be mutually beneficial vs. binary.

There is nothing wrong with App's 2019 class.
