Wake may try to defer App game because it is too tough per this article.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
Is anyone else horrified by the idea that we might have a shot at the NY6 game and it not allow any fans?
These ACC games would be good enough to bolster our SoS but frankly more winnable than Wisconsin.

If we could get everything to fall right, this could be just what we need. As much as I’d like to be in Atlanta, I’ll cheer hard for a Peach Bowl victory from in front of my television

Notre Dame is posted as one of Wake’s 10 Conference games per new ACC schedule so they still have a plus one game to announce.

But, here’s the potential downfall. Any game will not be played anywhere near stadium capacity. So, if the game happens, there will be very little chance of our fans in attendance.
Might be better to reschedule for another year in front of a packed stadium
Although, I would love for our seniors to have the chance at Wake.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
I was curious what the Wake fans were saying on their board, so I went over there. Most seem to think they will choose the App game as their OOC, but one person brought up a good point. They may try to reschedule that game to a future year when fans can be in attendance and opt for an easier "sure" win. Their conference schedule will include both ND and Clemson, so it's already a very tough schedule. We will see how it works out, assuming the season happens at all. That's no small assumption at this point.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
Those 2 factors may be the reason they push our game to another year (money for attendance and easier game in future).
Either way would hope an in-state ACC team gets us this year.

Therefore, forfeiting our game and surrendering The State Title to App.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
I don't think they're assuming the App game would be easier in the future (although this year's team is loaded with Seniors). They were talking about getting an easier OOC game for this year because their conference schedule is so difficult.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
If Wake doesn’t play us this year it is because less money (attendance restrictions) and/or they want an easier opponent this year. If they are serious about winning ACC and a shot at CFP they need us on their schedule.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
I think the only thing that allows them NOT to play App, if they choose, is that our game with them is scheduled for the 11th and the ACC won't allow any games before the 12th. So from a technical sense, that game would not be allowed under their conferences rules. If the game was on the 12th, I don't believe that there would be anyway they could get out of the deal, but I haven't actually read the contract so who knows what provisions may apply. We are currently their best OOC game and our game date essentially fits their schedule and the ACC rules as the other OOC games were either away (at ODU) or before the 12th as well. My best guess is they keep us on the schedule and move the game to Saturday, makes life much easier on the entire logistics staff of their football team.

They know they have no shot at the CFP or the ACC Atlantic for that matter. I fully expect them to dodge us this year.

The article I read said during the week of July 7th-12th, so we would fall into that time framet4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:34 amI think the only thing that allows them NOT to play App, if they choose, is that our game with them is scheduled for the 11th and the ACC won't allow any games before the 12th. Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
Call me crazy but if it’s an either/or situation, I’d actually prefer we push the game to a year when our fans could go.
Part of the draw of playing Wake is the fact that our fans both can go to the games in Boone and Winston and pack them out.

If that is the case, I don't see how they could get out of our contracted game because it meets all the requirements that the ACC has imposed on the member schools.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:57 amThe article I read said during the week of July 7th-12th, so we would fall into that time framet4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:34 amI think the only thing that allows them NOT to play App, if they choose, is that our game with them is scheduled for the 11th and the ACC won't allow any games before the 12th. I would consider rescheduling provided a four game home-and-home series was a part of the deal.

Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
I would think that they could get out of our contracted game by renegotiating a future date. App would likely be agreeable, especially if additional games were included in the deal or other in-state opponents for this year became available and open to a game.t4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:36 amIf that is the case, I don't see how they could get out of our contracted game because it meets all the requirements that the ACC has imposed on the member schools.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:57 amThe article I read said during the week of July 7th-12th, so we would fall into that time framet4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:34 amI think the only thing that allows them NOT to play App, if they choose, is that our game with them is scheduled for the 11th and the ACC won't allow any games before the 12th. Re: ACC announces 10 game conference schedule with one game allowed out of conference
Yes, they can get out if we let them get out. But considering we don't have another current P5 game to showcase our team this year, I am not sure why we would want to let them out. We need P5 wins to make our case for a NY6 bowl.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 11:02 amI would think that they could get out of our contracted game by renegotiating a future date.
