Re: In response to some negativity -
It’s part of the deal and coaches and players must realize that going in. You are in the public eye. Sports fans watch and listen to the talking heads that are on TV and radio 24/7 and now most fans think they could run a team and it’s all so simple when they’d be totally lost if they were in it. Even loudmouth Jay Bilas who knows eveything might change his tune and be less critical if he had a team himself. He’d find out he don’t know anywhere near what he thinks he does.
So, anybody in the public eye needs to learn to not listen to those who vent when their team does poorly. That’s what sport is about.
And be thankful if you have a job where you can sit in your cubicle or office or on your lawn mower or bulldozer or mail car or whatever you do out of the public eye and take an extra cup of coffee without criticism, or go to a website on company time and sneak in 20-30 minutes of playing around like you can do here and not be criticized for it. But if you work for DOT and you are leaning on your shovel most of the day, expect some passersby like me to give you some $&!+ because we see you loafing. Or we see you throwing all your grass in the public road instead of mowing the other direction - you’ll be criticized. If you can’t take it, go get a job where you can loaf or screw up behind the walls where nobody sees you. So, players and coaches should know they are gonna get it so they need to learn to ignore it which I am sure ours do.
I told my high school players for 40 years that they are going to be criticized so use it as a learning experience, learn to handle it, and use it to make you better in the future because that’s the world we live in. Use it and carry on.
Now, pile on.

"In my humble opinion the losses and lackluster performance has been from poor strength and conditioning"
I've heard from various individuals that excessive injuries are a result of poor strength and conditioning as well, just stating what I've heard. Not sure if it's true or not.

Posting on a fan board about individual players is one thing. After all, it's the internet and that's what people do online (as others here have said).
I don't believe in calling individuals out. But you have the right to say what you want, thanks to the the First Amendment.
What really irritates me is when people in the stands scream and curse at players during a game. We saw it last year after an ECU game, and I hoped our fans had more class than that.
I never thought we'd see that happen at KBS, but it did earlier this year. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure if it's true or not either, but this has been my opinion. Strength & Conditioning has been a big part of App's player development and success over the years. This was a part of the the off-season that was significantly impacted by the Covid restrictions. It makes sense to me.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 4:47 pm"In my humble opinion the losses and lackluster performance has been from poor strength and conditioning"

Yes, but, didn't every team have to deal with S&C issues during Pandemic. Seems it would cancel out or other programs did a better job than App. It seems we have done fine with only 2 losses.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 8:36 amI'm not sure if it's true or not either, but this has been my opinion. I am curious to hear more about S&C.It was a disaster some years back as we attempted to do it on the cheap.Moved light years ahead with Satterfield. Have we taken a step back ?

It impacted everybody, but I think S&C is a bigger part of the App program than it is for others. We don't recruit the "bigger" players and generally have our guys playing above their weight. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's a key part of our success...the fact we have a superior S&C program.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 9:40 amYes, but, didn't every team have to deal with S&C issues during Pandemic. I'd say the jury is still out on that question, covid played a big part in that area this season.

The consistent staring and stopping of activities due to shutdowns wreak havoc on conditioning and increase the probability of soft tissue injuries.

I wouldn’t count on it. The inclusion of App was nothing more than a show of respect for one of our staff members.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 6:47 pmSomething opposite of negativity. Malaki Hamrick named his top 5

Re: In response to some negativity -
I wonder what the level of negativity is up in Louisville right now? Is there COVID understanding or rumblings? What if they go 4-8 next year?
Anyone really noticed the SEC standings? Amazing how things shake out when middling teams don’t get 4 games against FCS and lower G5’s to pad their records. Same for several ACC teams. If you can’t go .500 in your conference it’s a struggle.

Re: In response to some negativity -
Per Louisville, I doubt there is any negativity at this point (with those who actually possess a brain) - After the turnaround last season - both in play on the field but most importantly the culture change, I think Coach Satterfield is in good shape. The defense needs to continue to improve and it will. They have played some good football this season, games which they probably won last year but didn't this year. I watched their game at ND and they should have won that - they lost 12-7 but had several positive plays overturned. I swear, when they would go to the booth review, I said to my wife - "The Pope is on the other end of that call" :>)
