Re: Conference Championship Game
Louisiana is baffling this year. They do seem to play down to their opponent way too much. That said, they whipped App pretty soundly in our game, so calling them a "paper champion" seems pretty weak until we avenge that. First step is to lock in our trip back to Lafayette. Then we take care of business.
I'm not a big trash talker personally. Don't care what others do...to each their own. Just doesn't feel like trash talk is the thing to do in this situation.
I do think our last game was a perfect storm against us. App played our worst game of the year by far. We were completely out of synch and Louisiana had their absolute BEST game of the year by far. I don't see that happening again. I expect a good game, but I feel pretty good about our chances.

Agreed. Me booking travel plans has exactly 0 to do with the teams on field success. I’m confident we handle our business on the field, in which case my trip is already booked.

No need to be thinking about the Belt Championship game until we have earned being there. Beat Troy; 1-0 this week.

Focus on Troy. Go 1 - 0. Then, rinse & repeat.

Re: Conference Championship Game
Good lord if we drop these 2 games this will have been the most fraudulent team ever. I refuse to believe that we are 8-2 with just dumb luck. We take the last 2 convincingly.

Re: Conference Championship Game
After the crushing loss at Miami and then drubbing from Louisiana, if this team could win out to take the title and win the bowl game, man that would be a successful season. Miami game still hurts but that would be quite the impressive comeback to retake the crown. Just clean up the mistakes on offense, defense has been just fine.

Miami was not a "crushing loss" unless you just mean that it was very disappointing. We outplayed Miami but simply made too many mistakes to win. I've just never heard a 2 point loss referred to as a "crushing" loss.JPatH3292 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:00 pmAfter the crushing loss at Miami and then drubbing from Louisiana, if this team could win out to take the title and win the bowl game, man that would be a successful season. Re: Conference Championship Game
You haven’t? Crushing losses don’t come from blowouts. Usually implies you played your heart out, kept it close but couldn't get the job done in the end. It does to me at least. We played better but missed an opportunity to knock off an ACC squad that we should have beaten. I would even venture to say our recent losses to P5s have come in pretty crushing ways (Penn State OT, Tennessee, WF field goal).Yosef84 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:14 pmMiami was not a "crushing loss" unless you just mean that it was very disappointing. Re: Conference Championship Game
Could we hang with Wake, UNC, or NC State this year? Could we win any of those hypothetical games? I think we "could" beat Miami, with I think King being the difference in the end. Miami beat State, and played well enough but gave it to UNC. Wake scores, scores, and scores some more, but has no D.

Travel Tip...when Cajun Fans go to Boone, fly Alegiant out of Concord in North Charlotte to NOLA. Very cheap, but you do stay for a few days. Get a group and split rental car. Go Verbo too. Lafayette, like Boone is a one of a kind town...

Re: Conference Championship Game
King was not the difference. Our Turnovers (1 INT and two turnovers on downs) and lack of execution on the final drive was the difference. We had the ball with 2:04 left and need to pick up 50 yards to set up Staton for a 40-yard FG. King threw for 200 yards and ran for 79 yards (on 19 carries). He was good, but that game was a W if we execute at the end.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 3:58 pmCould we hang with Wake, UNC, or NC State this year? We had two drops right in our hands during final drive. It happens sometimes. Kids played their hearts out. Tough loss but we held our own.

Re: Conference Championship Game
Nope. I sure haven't, at least not without an additional adjective includes (soul crushing, spirit crushing). Without the additional verbiage "crushed" generally refers to the score. I believe I made that clear in my original response, but hey....you use the language any way you want.JPatH3292 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 3:45 pmYou haven’t? Crushing losses don’t come from blowouts.
