Yup! Spurlin just wasn't on the call (neither was Gray from So Al). I just think it's funny how Wommack goes to the media with what he said, but then won't admit it when having a meeting with the conference and officials at the game. Also think it's funny he said an official told him Spurlin spit, but not one official said they saw anything during this meeting.
Clark and Wommack are close. Would not be surprised if that relationship has soured since Clark will always stand up for his players.
TBF, Wommack said "their officials" confirmed the spit. I asked the USA beat writer if this meant an App official or the refs and he wasn't 100%, but said he believes Wommack meant an App person confirmed the spit.
Also, Wommack didn't "go to the media." He talked about it during his Monday coach's show. I don't know if he was asked about it or offered it up voluntarily.
It seems this is a dead issue for now. My hope is that Gray misheard something Spurlin said and thought it was racial, but wasn't, and lost his cool.
