Re: Trip To Montana...Need Suggestions
You guys may want to check into flying into Spokane as well its only 3 hours to Missoula from there.
I definitely recommend the Old Works Golf course its damn nice.....If you do fly into Butte you have to check out uptown its one of my favorite places in the world, great history, restaurants and people. and its only 1.5 hours to Missoula.
Definitely hit the Mo Club in downtown Missoula its like Murphys in Boone, very cool place.

Re: Trip To Montana...Need Suggestions
Looks like there wasn't enough interest in the air/land package through Yosef to make a trip. Guess I'll need to do a little scrambling to see if I can get a ticket to the game and arrange all the travel and such. I realize I'll likely come out traveling for less; however, pre-arranged packages are much easier when you're flying solo.

Maybe they didn't have the staff to do it.DaphneUrquhart wrote:Looks like there wasn't enough interest in the air/land package through Yosef to make a trip. I got several emails sent out by Yosef with links to various travel options. It was during tax season - don't remember exactly when since those tax season days tend to run together.PhillyApp1 wrote:

I got the e-mails as well, but Yosef trips are always listed on the web site.

Re: Trip To Montana...Need Suggestions
If anyone decides to head down to the Tetons and wants a beautiful hike try the Devil's Staircase:
http://www.greater-yellowstone.com/Teto ... anyon.html
Tough hike but amazing views. Walking through the valley made it seem like you were in Jurassic Park. Multiple waterfalls coming off the canyon shelfs. Saw a full grown male moose and a momma fox with a couple of pups on this hike. Be sure to take bear spray (and know how to use it) if your doing any hikes away from the crowded areas. I saw plenty of grizzly evidence in both the Tetons and Yellowstone.
Also, in Yellowstone if you go to the Grand Prismatic Pool there are some trails on the backside away from the boardwalk. Hike up for an awesome aerial view of the pool.

Re: Trip To Montana...Need Suggestions
I followed up on the message I got yesterday about the cancellation. It seems that it's only the charter (non-stop) flight that was cancelled. There is still a group going via commercial airline. Have to stop in St. Paul on the way ... no biggie at all in my book. I guess there are others who'll be more ticked at not having a non-stop flight. For me, the bonus was traveling with a group of folks I'd trust - my Appalachian family - rather than flying solo. Now I can get off the disappointment rollercoaster and focus on work. Happy Tuesday!

I am looking forward to actually being there this time. I watched the 2009 Semi Final game from Harvey's in Huntersville.AppState89 wrote:I'm ready.....just waiting on August 31st and my tix....glad it won't be -20 degrees this time....

Can't wait for this one. Still waiting to buy a plane ticket out there. It's still a bit pricy to fly in to missoula. Hoping that it'll drop a little. My group will fly in friday night, catch the game saturday, then head to glacier sunday and monday for some hiking. Return to NC tuesday.
Re: Trip To Montana...Need Suggestions
We're on that commercial flight. As for being non-stop, I was not expected the chartered flight to fly non-stop. As I recall, in 2009, my boys & I took the charter into Missoula International Airport, expecting for it to be a non-stop flight. However, we had to stop in Iowa somewhere to re-fuel.DaphneUrquhart wrote:I followed up on the message I got yesterday about the cancellation. BUT, getting a flight into Missoula Int'l Airport IS a big deal because so few flights go there.
Anyway, I believe that the Yosef Club's problems here have to do with their lack of publicity. If Moody did not know, then very few people knew they were offering this. They should have sent out a group email about it, or posted it on the MMB or something.

Cheaper to land elsewhere and rent a car. That's what my group of 6 are doing. $340 airfare.appstcyclist wrote:Can't wait for this one. Still waiting to buy a plane ticket out there. Re: Trip To Montana...Need Suggestions
Ok booked the flight from RDU to Missoula on friday night. Flight back to NC on tuesday morning. Enough time to enjoy the game, and see glacier national park.
