That's around what FCS teams get playing P5. FCS always gets less for the P5 games.

When the question marks about the status of this game came up yesterday, I took a look at the FAMU athletics website. I couldn't fathom being a Div. I-A head football coach under 40 hours until kickoff of an P5 road game 450 or so nautical miles of straight line flight distance away and just learning the eligibility status of his players. Did FAMU not have a competent compliance officer?

One look at the Rattlers' athletic directory answered all my questions. The compliance position is being filled on an interim basis...by the person who is also the university financial aid officer. The directory has numerous groupings of full-time administrative positions paired and assigned to one staffer. Even the athletic director is serving in an interim role. That $450 grand guarantee is pocket money to UNC, but ohhh so crucial to FAMU's next payroll and accounts payable date.

FAMU is "playing the role" of a robust HBCU institution but has the staffing and resources of a small, relatively obscure NAIA institution. Sad situation.

Maye is pretty impressive. Seems comfortable in the pocket but FAMU isn’t getting much pressure. The Carolina DL is unimpressive.
