Let’s hope. Certainly a lull today like maybe he left the stadium for a while then cam back in the 4th qtr

Teams make adjustments so I am not as worried about that. He was doing a lot of things we had not seen before and that encourages me. Hard to find fault with an OC who put up 60+ in his first game at App.

After the first couple of catches by tight ends and then Anderson Castle in the wildcat, I thought, “the folks on Yosef’s Cabin have got to be loving this.”

Great job by Coach Barbay in his first game.

Loved the offensive play calling. Reminded me of the Armanti days when no matter how far we were backed up I knew we’d score points. Does everyone realize Brice was 25/26 completions passing? Other than that answer is easy for me…need hogs on the DLine to get pressure.
And that one incompletion was an INT, so a completion to the other team. Wild
Brice was 25 of 38 for 361 yards. Still pretty exceptional.
Ah, my espn app has been giving me issues (currently out of the country)

Happy with Barbay, I'd give him an A for play-calling. One additional wrinkle I would like to see is dual backs in the backfield. With our loaded RB's I don't see why that shouldn't be an option.

We did run a play action about of the two back set. You can’t give up all the goods on the first date.

except for the first and 20 run play between the tackles with Nate, why just why?
Sure, we can cherry pick plays here and there but unlike past years the play calling wasn't as predictable and had lots of fun wrinkles. Looking forward to this year.
Other than the set of runs after the 1st and 25 the playing calling was much better than years past. Like you said, more wrinkles. I love the Jet sweeps. Use the speed and mix options.

Are you referencing the drive at the end of the half?

Can’t stack the box against us. But if you don’t have a premiere defense, we’ll run all over you if you don’t.

NEVER in the history of college football, has a team EVER scored 40 point in the 4th quarter, until yesterday. Just freaking AMAZING effort by Chase and team.

It was. We may have to at least put up 17-20 every quarter to win games if our secondary doesn’t improve LOL. DCs are going to throw right at our safeties based on the film against UNC. It is early but I wonder if DJ Burks might be getting his number called a lot earlier than we wanted to.

If there is anyone who doesn't think we have a much improved OC you need to go watch tennis.

Agreed. We also need to keep in mind that UNC made a lot of mistakes on their end. They are not well coached or else they would have not let us back in when they were up 20. They had so many penalties that kept us alive. They were undisciplined and poorly coached. Just look at the onside kick recovery the first time. The guy took it back for a TD and that was stupid with how good both offenses were playing. He should have slid down inside our 10-yard line so they could just kneel the ball and get out of there. They gave us another chance doing that.

Yes. Sadly, if this continues, he's going to be plucked from us in a hurry. He called an impressive game, strategic, intentional and never panicked.

It was just one game but if he keeps developing and we continue to see more variety and good strategy then he definitely will not be here long. It would not shock me if he has OC offers from a P5 or a G5 HC offer if the offense is even half or 3/4 as productive as it was yesterday.

I liked the mis-direction - and using the same look for different plays and variations. It gave the UNC defense a lot to cover and think about. Very pleased!

Agreed, but buy the same token our guy never should have tried to stop him from scoring. Although it was a great effort.

Orrrrr…should he? I’m not saying he should’ve stopped him, but keep up the charade. If our guy stops, perhaps their guy stops.

Not to be argumentative but that wouldn’t make sense. Their guy should have had no issue being tackled. If he gets tackled, kneels down or even runs out of bounds the game is over.
