There is a discussion on 247 about them. If we are losing money like is said to be it makes me wonder why we even do it? I can see trying it but after losing money on them it is just desperation or incompetence to keep doing it.Bootsy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 5:04 pmWe can plan on this big announcement being followed by an even bigger announcement:T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2026 3:17 pmGillin said the game to be announced in September would be in the next couple of years.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2026 5:57 pmMy guess would be 2030 vs UNCC for another Dukes Mayo Classic. It’s a total guess from me but two reasons I say that are - 1. Dukes usually likes to announce future games the week of kick-off and 2. The 2030 game on the future schedules list is listed as TBA where the others have a set date.

Don’t laugh yet; given how Gillin's past concert production efforts have tanked, the polka angle might actually draw more fans.

I’m not arguing the point because my interest is way down, but do you have any measurable data that says interest is trending down?ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2026 1:52 pmHeck yeah, just what the sport needs as interest is trending down, let's go ahead and add in zero chance of upsets!! Our games against Chapel Hill were excessively boring so I get why they don't want to play those. The Penn St, Miami (2.0), Texas A&M, and Tennessee games were also really boring. Let's just take away all those.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2026 10:28 amIt’s scary that the pundits are now talking like this

Re: Wake Forest
Nothing besides anecdotally. I'm sure interest in the overall sport of college football is the same as it ever was due to the top 10 teams people care about, but just basing it off the time it took to sell out our season tickets after having a waiting list for 4 years (and we still don't know if that number was just "sold out" because they decreased available seats) and the general lack of activity on here or 247 and the general sentiment of posters here. Having people who have been here for decades say they don't care as much is not likely to bode well for us at least.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 5:40 pmI’m not arguing the point because my interest is way down, but do you have any measurable data that says interest is trending down?ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2026 1:52 pmHeck yeah, just what the sport needs as interest is trending down, let's go ahead and add in zero chance of upsets!! Re: Wake Forest
TV viewing drives the bus and those numbers aren't hurting. Difference is those that aren't tied to a top four conference are falling behind and quicker than ever.

Unsure if related yet, but Gillin was trying to get a neutral site game against ECU for 2027 but I don’t know the status of this.

I’d rather them all be in Charlotte every year and none in Boone to avoid going to that hell hole in eastern NCBallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2026 1:41 pmHoping we sign a new long term agreement 2 in Boone 2 in Greenhell, 1 in CltASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2026 10:08 pmUnsure if related yet, but Gillin was trying to get a neutral site game against ECU for 2027 but I don’t know the status of this.

Re: Wake Forest
I believe we will at some point in the future. The current belief is that the new agreement will not start in 2027. Coastal is lurking for a multi-sport agreement with ECU.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2026 1:41 pmHoping we sign a new long term agreement 2 in Boone 2 in Greenhell, 1 in CltASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2026 10:08 pmUnsure if related yet, but Gillin was trying to get a neutral site game against ECU for 2027 but I don’t know the status of this.

Re: Wake Forest
If not 2027, we'll have to wait 2029 unless they shuffle 2028 somehow. Right now we have an opening for next year, who are we going to get? I'm guessing FCS at home.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2026 2:08 pmI believe we will at some point in the future. The current belief is that the new agreement will not start in 2027. That seems to be the most likely at this point.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2026 3:35 pmIf not 2027, we'll have to wait 2029 unless they shuffle 2028 somehow.
