Welcome. Always obliged to play ECU. Should be a natural rivalry. Mountains, Coast. Highlander, Flatlanders. Let's do it

Re: 2027 Football Schedule
Personally, I prefer to play UNC, NC State, The other Carolina, Penn State, Michigan, etc. as it is considered significantly more impressive than EasyU. Other than playing an in-state team which is fun and helps build OOC schedule, EasyU really does nothing for us to get a Group invite into playoffs if we ever do. Playing EasyU is much better than playing Lindenwood, Western, UNC, ETSU..

Re: 2027 Football Schedule
Ecu hasn’t won the aac yet much less been in playoff contention.
Boise ‘24 played at Ga South Tulane and jmu last year played at South Al and Liberty respectively so it’s clear that for a g5 you have to just win all your games

I’m sure EasyU fans would feel the same way, however, realistically scheduling those games is getting harder and harder.
Looking out over the next seven years, App has NC State and South Carolina scheduled. East Carolina has NC State, Wake Forest and Clemson.
It’s going to be very difficult for both schools to get games against power schools moving forward.

Re: 2027 Football Schedule
What would be really nice is it to be a conference game. I hope when the split happens ODU, JMU, APP, and ECU are the four teams calling the shot to invite UAB, Marshall, Troy, Louisiana and fill in the blank. Then we both have a extra OOC to sign other games.

Re: 2027 Football Schedule
I had this conversation with an ECU friend yesterday. We need a long term H&H agreement. Who knows what our OOC opportunities will look like with the A4 conferences (plus the TV networks) looking to expand to 9 or even 10 conference games and playing "marquee" OOC games. We need to dive into regional rivalries to keep fans interested.CLT wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 3:52 pmE-Z-U fan here coming in peace, I’m curious what you all think of future matchups together? Obviously App has had ECU’s number the last few matchups so it’s always been a fun game for you all so far.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2026 7:16 pmI just got an email from ECU and our ticket is their most expensive ticket of the year. It seems it would be a no brainer to make that an annual game.
For us as ECU fans, with the way CFB is going I’m guessing that it will to be rather difficult to schedule games against NC State and UNC going forward. For decades those games and other ACC matchups gave many ECU fans their favorite moments with college football.
In the American ECU has no real regional rivals, obviously there’s UNCC but it’s hard to get excited to play them. I see the App State game as an opportunity to continue to build and enjoy an in-state rivalry with another fanbase and university that is passionate about football. I would love if this became a game that’s played every other year like it has been recently.
This isn’t as big of an issue for App playing in the Sunbelt but so im curious how you all see the game?

I for one would love a series where we play 3 out of every 5 years. But for the love of God, can we not play in Greeneville on a Saturday at noon!CLT wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 3:52 pmE-Z-U fan here coming in peace, I’m curious what you all think of future matchups together? Re: 2027 Football Schedule
I don't know the numbers but would suspect both our and ECU's primary revenue source is ticket sales over TV proceeds. Which is why I have a problem with both our and ECU's AD allowing a 12 noon kickoff. Seems like slighting your primary revenue source to accommodate the secondary. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm sure i'll know shortly.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 9:26 amI for one would love a series where we play 3 out of every 5 years. Re: 2027 Football Schedule
Would I rather play home and home vs. ECU or away only vs. NCSU or similar? Give me the home and home every time. Better for season ticket demand and a chance at a win in this NIL era.

I do not really know the answer... Do they have a choice (the ADs that is).mike87 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 1:03 pmI don't know the numbers but would suspect both our and ECU's primary revenue source is ticket sales over TV proceeds. For EasyU fans, noon KO will be fine... They will just stumble over from the 5th street bar where they started at on Friday night

Re: 2027 Football Schedule
From what I saw, their board isn't happy with the start time either. Said the AAC's contract with ESPN dictated the game time.
Re: 2027 Football Schedule
Let’s go back to the rocking 70s. This was a good rivalry then. Anyone remember the longest ( time wise) field goal in history for the win? In Conrad Stadium?
I think it’s great to play EZU on a regular basis. Each place sells out. It’s a game that’s been around since 1932. Let’s play!

Jerry Harmon special. And then Moondog Davis at Wake in ‘75. Never forget. And we had a good time in Columbia, SC about that time, too. I swore off drinking after that night, but it only lasted a couple of weeks and then I came to my senses.

ECU is currently not expected to be on the 2027 schedule. I don’t know what changed or fell through, but something did. A home FCS opponent seems likely.
