Re: New Uni Combos
I think they all look sharp. A white helmet might be a slight advantage at a deep south, early season away game. The one with he state silhouette I guess is a play on the Today I Give MY All for App sign.

We don't have the luxury to take the same approach as the "really big boys" since we aren't at their level...yet. We have to differentiate ourselves being newcomers to FBS.Yosef84 wrote:Is there actually any intent to attempt to use all of these or is this just from a brain storming session? I'm kind of hoping it's the latter. I would say no to both of the white helmets, although the one with the black block A isn't bad, I wouldn't want to see it white a home black uniform. I thought the gray uniforms this year looked ok, but they look more like an away uniform than home. Could we actually use these as an "alternate" away uniform and use either the gray or white (block A) helmet with that? I really don't care for the Yosef logo helmets. I'm not a big fan of helmets with mascot logos in general and to me these just don't look very good. If we are going to use Victory Yosef, maybe we should invest in three color (black, yellow, white) decals instead of the single color but my vote is to stick with the block A on the helmet. Victory Yosef on the shoulder of the jersey looks pretty sharp.
Maybe having umpteen uniforms is the "new norm" for Oregon and the new regime of FBS, but most of the really big boys stick with their traditional looks and use an alternate maybe once a year.

Understandable, but we are from North Carolina, a member of the UNC system and one of, I think, the best program in the state. I like it, but would prefer a "Today I Give My ALL" decal.AppSt94 wrote:That is precisely the reason for my objection. Exactly. the "really big boys" have been building their brands and traditions at the top level for decades. in the realm of FBS, we're a new team and we have to do whatever we can to build develop and build our brand and get it in front of the better players/athletes we'll be going after and then, most importantly, back it up with winning.ASUGoose wrote:We don't have the luxury to take the same approach as the "really big boys" since we aren't at their level...yet. Re: New Uni Combos
So how do we build our brand if we are going to change it every week? I remember how excited many were when our helmet showed up on ESPN. A lot of people were able to say, hey that's App State. Now they will be able to say " I wonder who that is"?mtnjax wrote:Exactly. the "really big boys" have been building their brands and traditions at the top level for decades. in the realm of FBS, we're a new team and we have to do whatever we can to build develop and build our brand and get it in front of the better players/athletes we'll be going after and then, most importantly, back it up with winning.ASUGoose wrote:We don't have the luxury to take the same approach as the "really big boys" since we aren't at their level...yet. You know I've never heard David Jackson say TOUCHDOWN BLACK AND YELLOW! My gosh dude, our colors ate Black and GOLD! No wonder we're having an identity crisis.mtnjax wrote:please have yellow pants. please have yellow pants. please have yellow pants.
yellowed out look is the only thing i have been hoping for in terms of alternate uni's for some time now haha

Re: New Uni Combos
State's midfield logo was a blatant knockoff of the ECU midfield. The white block A over NC isn't close enough. Now if we throw victory yosef inside the NC and put it at midfield, maybe.AppinVA wrote:The one with the state logo is my favorite. OK, my degree is in accounting and not marketing, so for discussion sake please help me out. How does fragmenting our visual imaging (logos) improve our brand recognition?mtnjax wrote:Exactly. the "really big boys" have been building their brands and traditions at the top level for decades. in the realm of FBS, we're a new team and we have to do whatever we can to build develop and build our brand and get it in front of the better players/athletes we'll be going after and then, most importantly, back it up with winning.ASUGoose wrote:We don't have the luxury to take the same approach as the "really big boys" since we aren't at their level...yet. Re: New Uni Combos
I could grow to like the grey helment with the Block "A" over the state for alternate look. Also like the idea of "Today I give my all for App State". Just don't bring the "Snow Capped A back".

Re: New Uni Combos
Wow! Lots of choices. I think the white helmet with the block A could be bad ass with the white jerseys and black sleeves we wore this year. Not a huge fan of the "primer" gray look on the helmets but I did like the gray unis this year (everything but the "Always Attack" slogan on the back). How bout we replace that slogan with the "Today I give my all....." across the back. A more humble, hard working mantra that fits well when our team plays hard no matter the score!!!

Re: New Uni Combos
I wonder how a state map with "Today I give my all" would look as a nameplate on alternative jerseys? It would be better than " Always Attack".AppinVA wrote:Understandable, but we are from North Carolina, a member of the UNC system and one of, I think, the best program in the state. We find something to bitch about in every thread!
Let's just freaking win.....this variety of uniforms is more for recruiting and telling the kids, that we are not going to run a second class program to anyone!
Kids like to look good and if they do and feel good about that....the play might actually follow suit!

Re: New Uni Combos
I'm probably in the minority when I say this, but I actually wouldn't mind if they added the North Carolina outline to the midfield logo. It's not a blatant ripoff of ECU's midfield logo, like NCSU did, but it reminds people who we are and where we're from. We will be the only North Carolina school in the Sun Belt, and the furthest north school (for now, at least), so why not use that to our advantage?

Our official colors are black and gold. Most everything we print on paper, uniforms, hats etc. is yellow. I do hope I never hear DJ say "black and yellow".

Re: New Uni Combos
You may have a point there. Any chance that could carry over to the classroom for all students in their last semester? HR departments in many companies would love to see that.asutrnr81 wrote:We find something to bitch about in every thread!
